A man connects a portable XM player while exploring a cavernous landscape. A woman follows the sound, which has manifested itself in an unexpected manner.
XM radio hosts a weekly show called The Radar Report. The show airing on XMU gives unsigned independent musicians a chance to submit
music for possible airtime.
This ad is inspired particularly by XM and Currents spirit of giving unknown talent the opportunity to be seen and heard. Making new discoveries...

I'll GL it just for the ambition and willingness to go somewhere different with it.

Nice production value, although I would actually make it a little longer to tell the story more. There were some quick shots at the beginning that were hard to follow and at the end I wasn't quite sure what they found. Still, though, very different. GL.
Check out my Sony VCAM if you get a chance. Thanks! -
Very cool! I love how unique this is!

fantastic pod -- beautifully shot and edited.

Very cool. I love the shot of the ladies ear and the "stuff" that was going into it. Beautiful film quality. I agree, I wanted to see more. A minute spot would have been great. GL!

as much as I like this, it just doesn't feel right for an xm radio promo.
this is so unfortunate because this ad kept me on the edge of my seat, and i would pay to see the film if it were a movie trailer.
felt like 2001:a space odyssey.
this is way too good for xm radio anyways.
that's what's so cool about your ad...it could be adapted for anything...pharmaceutical, cars, perfume, any device that puts sound into your ears will work with this.
brilliant. -
i agree wholeheartedly with smorrissey on his feedback. i think it is shot beautifully and if edited just right it could have made for one hell of a specific-to-XM ad. beautiful camera work and animation.
thanks for my GL. :) jenn -

Beautiful work, right down to casting. Strictly profesh.
My editorial two cents would be that in order to lead the audience (in the same way the couple are led through the cavern landscape) we need either some repitition (either sonically or visually, a "sign" they pursue) or a *particular* sound the couple follow, or a clearer visual representation of what they've found at the end of the piece.
Well done. -
Thx for checking out 170 Chances: <a href=" http://www.current.tv/watch/153630962">link<...
The location, camera work, casting and score are all spot on! It has mood and energy, I can feel it. Great animations added as well.
I would have loved to see the shot where you plugged the radio into the rock a little bit longer to establish the basis of the concept a bit more... but I know there's a lot to say/show in :30. Making it a quick cut kind of adds more mystery and new things to realize the second & third time you watch it. That's a good thing... GL!
You've got style.-
