For the first time, it takes more than $1 billion earn a spot on Forbes magazine's list of the 400 richest Americans.

I love the quote from Matthew Miller, editor of the Forbes list. "Wall Street really led the charge this year. God only knows if they'll be on it next year. It really just depends on what the market does." As if next year, they might only make a wimpy billion, or heaven forbid, millions, and therefore be left off the list of people with way way way too much money. I'm not a socialist or a communist...but I do think a more even distribution of wealth would do this country a lot of good.

Bastard - He is 33 and a BillionaireHere's an old NY times story about John Arnold a former Enron trader that started his own firm after Enron's collapse. He's the youngest person on this list of rich people.
His hedge fund Centaurus Energy, that he started with his 8 million dollar bonus from trades he made at Enron, is just getting going in this article. Today he is worth more than 2 billion dollars. money he made in the natural gas markets.
