  • I would say that the other sides' opinions should be included in this pod, meaning, find an artist who has had their music "sampled" and permeate it within your next podcast?

  • GREAT to have the EFF involved in this pod! An opposing viewpoint would have been nice, along with audio clips of the particular music being discussed, like Mash-up or the Grey Album. The disclaimer at the beginning made me laugh considering this entire pod is about using other people's material without permission. I HOPE you were being ironic on purpose. Overall, good work!

  • Hey just so you know, Kid says he has played in 2 DOZEN Countries, not 2000 countries.

  • You do a good job illustrating a complex topic. The interview with the EFF adds a lot to the piece too.

  • I agree that most sampling should qualify as fair use, but you shouldn't be able to use more than one measure or so at a time. if you use too much of someone else's music, it gets to the point when you should just do a cover version or something.

  • nice work, very informative and well put together. Didn't really like the graphics put up over the interviews, but i will get over it. maybe next time try changing your shot sizes during the interviews so that it is more visually interesting.

  • well done, i cant even count how many times i have tried to argue sampling as being no less creative. Greenlight.

Would have like to see a little more info on types of sampling: looping, chopping, etc. Maybe a mention of J Dilla or Madlib as their names often follow any mention of sampling.

  • You've got a greenlight from me.
Music sampling is definitely an art form. I am fortunate that I've been able to hear several different types music spun by various DJs. And to my DJs out there...your music (sampling) does not create a "Monster"...if anything, your aim is to calm "The Beast", riiight!

  • Nice piece, it's put together very well, and I like how you move the stills. I do have one burning question though...

Kid Kameleon said that he's had the great fortune to play in about 2000 countries. Is he a space traveler? Here on planet earth there are 193 countries. Where did the other 1807 countries come from?

    Just wondering...
  • Yes, yes! GL
