Apparently every Microsoft office in the country threw a Halo 3 launch party. Here's how the web glitterati celebrated in silicon valley. Is that famous blogger Robert Scoble just standing in line???

There are a lot of dudes in that line... haha!

The consumption obsession is truly more of an addictiontmcnet.com has this to say:
The consumption obsession is truly more of an addiction
"So can teenagers overcome the annual 600-plus billion-dollar advertising industry and persuasive popular culture that pushes consumption of more and more stuff?"
";It's pretty clear that our current way of life leaves most adults overstressed, unhealthy and miserable,"; he said.
"Hopefully students understand that miserable adults are product of the current consumerist lifestyle." -
We should invite this line of bloggerati to BETA...

@Tori - Just so you know female gaming is on the rise big time, but they tend to lean more towards MMORPG's than they do the FPS's. (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game and First Person Shooter for the uninitiated)
I used to own a cyber-gaming cafe about 3 years ago and I can say that I could see more and more females coming into the place each month and they were as varied as the male clientale we had. -
@twodee - My personal belief is that gaming is not nearly as much about consumerism as it is about the chance to engage in competition with others. The games that are getting huge in this world are ones such as Halo, Counterstrike, Quake, Starcraft, World of Warcraft and so on. The one thing all these games have in common is that they are primarily player verses player games.
I have always been a gamer since I was a little kid, but I really got into it again after college when I no longer had competition in my life. My college athletic days were over, no more tennis, no more volleyball, no more intermural sports or greek weeks/homecomings, but luckily things like Halo came out and Starcraft and others that allowed me and millions like me to continue to compete at something. -
That is the best rationale I have for why games are getting huge. 1. They are becoming more involved and more fun than ever. 2. They are a lot more social than the common detractor believes. 3. Because chicks dig the long ball.

beclark--- i understand you and millions who want to continue to compete in the world. Some of the best business concepts and inventions are born out of this. I am also endlessly reminded of how people compete with each other and themsleves every time I run a marathon. I see every body type, skill level, motivation out there. Many of us are running for a cause/fundraiser such as a cure for cancer. Talk about competition..... compete for a cure! That will get the heart racing!
