The city of Chicago, in conjunction with IBM, is launching the first phase in an advanced video security network. The system would analyze camera images 24 hours a day, and could be programmed to recognize license plates, or alter emergency officials if nobody picks up a backpack in Grant Park for 30 seconds, among other things.
