Love it! Imagine once it gets smarter...Nice editing rhythm, Sloan!
I wonder at what point you can absorb the meaning, but still get the feeling of being inundated with information? Would love to see the top 100 in 30 seconds. -
That's 'cause your brain works slower than mine, Sladden.
-
So true!! But what it lacks in speed, it makes up for in nerdiness.
-
Dan had the brilliant idea of pausing each image proportionally to its popularity -- so really hot items would freeze for a second so you could see 'em better.
-
Ah, I thought you were just using basic music/picture editing technique of cutting to the rhythm. The fact that the popularity lined up with the beats is cool. And *functional*!!
-
No, popularity DOESN'T line up to the beats here -- they just go at 30fps. Dan's idea was for a future iteration. (BTW, the fact that there appear to be pauses in this version is an artifact of the compression -- the original just blazes along frame by frame.)
-
Got it. Ok, so I retract half of the brilliance I attributed to you.
Even better that the Ghost in the Machine (compression artifacts) create the soul in the flood of images.
(Can you tell I've just had a strong cup of tea?) -

Somehow after watching this I crave a McRib.

Let's not forget another relevant classic. Remember how this one ended?

Thank you for that frighteningly goodbad blast from the past ofer!
I think we might need to watch Lawnmower Man as part of a bizarre celebration ritual in November. Better yet, maybe we can put a few Lawnmower man easter eggs around dotcom? ; ) -
I've now got James Brown, a motorbike, a lego head and the American flag etched into my brain.
If I end up going on a deranged, hypnosis-induced mission across America involving fast bikes, a giant lego head for a hat, with Live At The Apollo as the soundtrack, I'm holding you accountable Mr Sloan.

looks cool man, its amazing how neat a basic concept can look
-
I Like this style, kind like fast montage of pictures that show events, political moments, movies etc.
