It is absolutely fascinating, not to mention inspiring, to see a group of people that care so much about their profession. Especially in the Western world, as we view garbage collectors as a low-intellect job.
Could you imagine if we had these motivated and hard-working 60,000 sorting through the trash in New York City every day? How much would we save? How would this group change the impact of our wasteful daily lives?
I hope they find a way to remain relevant in Egypt and to ensure the continued recycling there. I especially love it when the woman tells them to stop going through the recycling bins - they are so excited about the town, talking about how hard they would work if they were there. Imagine...
