    • An additional part of the problem is pressure placed on appraisers to over value homes. Since loan officers only make money when a loan goes through, many apply tremendous pressure on appraisers to "hit the value". If the appraiser does not comply he find that his work suddenly drys up as the loan officer goes looking for an appraiser that is more liberal and is willing to overinflate the value.

You might ask? Doesn't the loan officer want to know the true value of the home? The answer is NO. They don't care if the home is overvalued because they are just going to sell the mortgage to the secondary market. They wash their hands of the loan.

    • This is a nice piece about a very important topic but I think you should try a shotgun or lavelier mic and score the piece with some library music. Some simple changes could really take it to the next level production wise.
