Increasingly, we are all -- Republicans and Democrats -- convinced that climate change is real. But we have yet to be told what we, as individuals, as voters, as citizens, can do to affect local change on this most global of all challenges. I'd like to know what specific action points you think we can take to help.

That is a fantastic question to put out there. Without going to the many websites that answer this question I will just drop the obvious to start with. Change your light bulbs to CFLs and unplug things that draw phantom power while not in use. Recycle and compost when you can. If you are buying 2 or 3 things at the store dont have them bag it. Dont walk through the automatic doors at the store. Use the door you need to push open. Start asking local restaurants to change over to recyclable take out containers. I hope others add to this.

I have bought a house in San Francisco that I am renovating as a green, sustainable home for the 21st century. I am using a lot of readily available earth friendly products from multiple environmentally sensitive topics: sustainable, recyclable, reused, reusable, low chemical...
I might try and put a pod together and chronicle the journey, maybe if can help people think about how our day to day living effects our environment. -
i think people should make more plush toys from recycled materials. i mean, who doesn't love plush toys? (shameless self promotion...)

read Cradle to Cradle. We need to rethink design. Just consuming less is not sustainable. Global "Weirding" is part of a larger problem: namely, we do not use nature's model of consumption.
