"To tar all with the same brush" is an English turn of phrase. For such a worldy and cultured man, I'm really astounded that you didn't pick it up.
Try to paint yourself as the smart guy all you want, nothing is going to change the fact that what you said was laughably ignorant. Someone was going to call you out on it sooner or later. Live with it.
You can't dismiss every muslim person by saying things like 'stop blowing things up'. Bottom line. It's not fair. You're not even backtracking far enough.
If I met you in real life and you said something like that, I'd be pretty convinced that you weren't very nice. I'm pretty sure most people I know would agree. -
Oh god yeah and I forgot to say, pretty much everything you just said only served to make you look more silly - mostly because it exposed your completely pedestrian and unintelligent interpretation of world events.

I've attacked what you said. I can't help it you're personally wounded by being so spectacularly wrong. If you were as thoughtful as you were sensitive you'd get much further. Your feeble attempts to patronise me don't make your idioitic generalizations any less embarrasing.
I've had an education and I've travelled to many places. The fact that you automatically assume otherwise because I called you out on a stupid comment is blind arrogance.
