Not entirely sure if this is accurate--I hope it's not--but there's some interesting discussion in the comments.

Maybe they should make movies that don't suck that star women, rather than blame the movies' failure on the fact that women were the lead.
-
The success of a female leading role relies upon the amount of skin the male viewer can actually see from her.
I'd go and see Nicole Kidman in any film she'd make if she was in that baby-doll all of the time... Not sure about Jodie Foster, though...
Ok, girls... I'm joking...
But the Nicole Kidman part is true...
I've seen Eyes Wide Shut 5 times already... This week alone! -
I wonder what job Jeff Robinov will get once he's fired from WB.

stupid studios.

This remark was coming from his bank account & there is no way a rash decision like this would stick at a giant studio like WB.

I guess there's no chance for verification of this story. Even if it were true, I imagine it was some sort of water cooler temper tantrum, and not a company-wide edict (although if there's a hot email to that effect, it would be great mid-morning reading, I'm sure!)
Nah, I don't buy it.

Water cooler temper tantrum! Love it!

Something just does not add up here. I can't imagine a studio head letting this get out. Not to say that sexism doesn't run rampant in Hollywood, but it's usually very well hidden.
