Stem cells from adults carry the same life expectancy potential that the adult has at the time they are cropped. Therefore, adult stem cells should only be used on older people, never on children. In general, they are fairly unreliable.
Using stem cells from discarded frozen embryos that are at the very early stage of development and which will not be implanted in their mother's uterus is not killing a human being - it is allowing them to live and develop in a different manner, whereas destroying them certainly is killing them.
