    • its just a stupid angle becaus then there will be a school of thought on whats good and whats not....bottom line,,,if anyone out there is byeing there gun for personal protection then you have bad intentions?? thats stupid,,,we all have the right to defend our selves againsed the people who want to do us harm....when the government takes that right away then were all screwed. we have a system something like the one he mentioned and its called a criminal background check.people lie on those forms as well as they would lie on any other form....i think inforceing the laws we allreddy have is far better then makeing new ones that wonte work.

    • Genius! where were you all those years? I mean im sure people who intent to harm other people using a gun will be moral and honest enough to state the true intentions in their application. This solution offers absolute control even if you were honest in your application but your intentions changed in the way or you suddenly had a nervous breakdown or whatever. On the other hand people who will declare good intentions like saving the planet, ending poverty, ermm....wait a minute....you don't need a gun to achieve those....then what are the good intentions you can use a gun for??? What are good intentions? do you mean harmless? because even if that is the case then ONLY if you use your gun for practice shooting you use it for a harmless cause, but 'good' is not necessarily the word to describe it. Good idea though, we live in an honest world and this is the perfect solution.

    • A proclomation of intent as a prerequisite for gun ownership can be seen a being a form of gun control and at the same time defends peoples right to have a gun. In my opinion this is a step in the right direction, but what if a person tells a lie, or, who will be making the decisions?
