  • As Ghandi said - be the change you want to see.

  • That's great and all but you know good and damn well that's the least likely thing to work. I mean shit look at some of those posts, people don't even think there is a problem and it's only been aggrivated for the past century. what will happen in the next century if we don't stop using fossil fuels. Alt. nrg = Alt. minds. change what you can the rest will follow, cus man will not stop evolving and expanding.

  • Actually, BabyRooFiend, that's the ONLY thing that is likely to work. One needs to show the example, be the example, and not wait on others to do things nor do nothing oneself because it might feel hopeless. I've personally cut down my use of fossil fuels to practically zero, and other people having seen how I do it are following suit.

  • As much as I wish we could rethink our role in earths ecology, I believe we have strayed far from our original role. But i believe an equilibrium can still be found.
The book Ishmael talks about the "Leaver culture." A people who were at peace with the earth, namely hunter-gatherers. However when humans started to produce their own food - agriculture - that marked to beginning of the destruction of the world (Taker culture).
But, I believe that we have the sustainable technology to do wonderful things that will re-tie the earth and human relationship in a positive manner and this will restore the proper role humans should have in our only home.

  • I think that the chief issue in many, if not all, of man's issues involving ecology is the false dichotomy between man and nature. Man has not realized that he and everything he has done, does, or will do remains natural. For too long, man has treated his neighbors and his very own environment s if they were enemies. It is sadistic as well as suicidal.

Everyone should be Vegan, for many, many reasons. A Vegan can live soundly, satisfied that nothing need die so he or she may live. That's a powerful thought. Since I went Vegan spontaneously about 8 months ago, I haven't had a bad day. It's changed my whole life for the better.
