  • Well, another one bites the dust for St. Petersburg, Florida and for all the towns just like it. I am Jen, representing "the Lou" for Current Journalism and have been working on a pod on the loss of big business in cities like St. Louis and St. Pete. In 2001, there were over 18 Fortune 500's in St. Louis, now there are only eight, and one more may be on the move. I am trying to figure out why? They say that St. Louis is undergoing a renaissance and it seems like that may be the case, but I never really here anyone say, after college or grad school, I am moving to St. louis....It's always, New York, LA, San Fran, Chicago. Wash U is one of the best business schools in the country and it's right here in STL...the problem is no one wants to stay here - not big business, not the educated. Will St. Louis be able to compete in business against those top tier cities? Where else is this happening and what are the leaders in St. Louis doing to ensure that we keep the remaining companies from leaving???? I will keep you posted.
