We believe that no one should be hurt intentionally regardless of what they might be able to tell us.

Very well put. The president would have us believe that statements like this put America at risk, and that statements such as this are anti-American. The president would also have us believe that when the Congress does not want to re-authorize legislation to allow such things, it does not give him, nor law enforcement, the tools necessary to "protect America from its enemies." The harsh reality is that some of America's enemies are fighting us from within with illegal wiretapping, "enhanced" interrogation (read: torture), off shore detention centers, indefinite detention without charge, doing away with habeas corpus, and so on. It is during times like this that we must stick to our ideals even more. By sacrificing personal liberty, the president has done the opposite of what he has intended, he has not protected America, he is destroying it and what it stands for: Liberty and Freedom. I agree with Jpeck, and I'll quote Patrick Henry who said "Give me Liberty or Give Me Death."

I have often said i would rather die free than subject to how our government decides what is free me. I would rather keep the freedoms and risk death than let our government invade our homes without warrant, jail possible "suspects of terror," without trial indefinitely, eavesdrop on our conversations, etc. I would rather keep what America IS than give up to fear and terror, at anyones hands.
