"The Take Away Shows are a Video Podcast produced by the French weblog La Blogothèque. Every week, we give away a session, shot with a band, in an unusual, urban environment."
This is such a simple, lovely idea. The performances are incredibly more intimate than a lip-synced, over-produced music video, or even a live (tour) show. It helps that I like most of the artists featured - Beirut, Architecture in Helsinki, Of Montreal, Grizzly Bear, The Dirty Projectors, Final Fantasy, the list goes on...
In case the Take Away Shows were totally old news to you, La Blogothèque is also recording videos for every song on Beirut's new album, "The Flying Cup Club". They are amazing. Check them out at http://flyingclubcup.com.

Arcade Fire in a freight elevatorArghhh! I was totally going to post this! I emailed it to myself, intending to post it this morning... alas. Why did I linger? Why did I wait? You beat me this time, Kuebrich. THIS TIME.
The Beirut videos in particular are super good, as is this one: Arcade Fire playing Neon Bible in a Parisian freight elevator. -

The singer is Annie Clark, The song "Marry Me"The band St. Vincent. The girl is my kind of soulful, yet very seductive woman however I don't really understand her the lyrics. Doesn't matter. I like her.
