Last night if you were watching television and in particular Stuart Scott on Sportscenter you witnessed the worst moment in this fine networks history. So infuriating was this segment that people started blogging and commenting on it almost immediately after it was aired. I will post some of their comments below. If you watched this atrosity please comment on how it made you feel. My "Rantish" vlog actually helped me overcome this dark memory in my life. I fear, however that Stuart Scott will strike again.

Picture and blog Comment"Im imagining this. This isnt happening. No. No. No. NO.
HOLY FUCK, HE JUST KEEPS GOING. It is never-ending. This has been going on for minutes. I I can actually feel the neurons in my brain rebelling against what my eyes are taking in. This is not happening." - anonymous
"So I wait up to catch highlights of my beloved Bengals on Sportscenter and Im met with that?
Nothing like Stu-ya literally waxing poetic, repleate with mood lighting and moving cameras, and squinting to see Chad Johnsons TD catch on 1/5th of the screen. Hey Stuart, move to the left, I cant see the highlights past your ego." - Gregg -
"The WORST fucking television idea since Cop Rock. How inspirational that the tiresome and banal task of everyday sportscasting just cant provide the necessesary outlet for Stuarts immense creativity. One can picture the conference room pitch: Why not combine the natural flow and rhythm of black street jargon with the natural flow and rhythm of black athleticism- genius! And if you guys decide to ramp this up into a cultural phenomenon in the form of a series, I get a producer credit. That this was NOT self-effacing parody is unbelieveable."

A-ROC - outstanding work here. It's nice to know that I'm not alone in my hatred of Stuart Scott. I'm relieved that I somehow missed this abomination b/c I might have been tempted to throw my beautiful HDTV out the window.
PS - Cop Rock was better than anything Stu Scott has ever done. -
The IncidentLOL. Aroc, your version of it actually sort of makes me want to see the real thing. So I found it, and you're right...it stinks.
-
THANK YOU TORI! This is probably about 1/5th of the actual "session" but it gives everyone a bit of an idea. However, next time lets put up a disclaimer before showing content of this nature.
-
thanks for posting that, Tori. It was thoughtful, provocative, and soulful, and hopefully will be a new trend in sports reporting and perhaps eventually straight news reporting as well - maybe Katie Couric could try this approach to save her job at CBS.
...and hey ESPN, If Stuart ever needs someone to noodle around on an upright bass in the background as he drops his wisdom, I humbly offer my services. -
snap

the only thing that could possibly be better for sports news......would be a return to national prominence for the George Michael Sports Machine!
-
AROC - You ARE sports. & that's a compliment.

"Why ya be hatin'?"
I mean, it wasn't bad. Granted, I don't think poetry slam belong on ESPN, regardless of who Scott thinks he is. He could take that to the Def Jam Poetry Slam and get access to a less close-minded/racist audience and still get props for mingling the latest sports news with slam. -
Stuart Scott wants the fleece. Booyah.
-
I be hatin. no dizzout. cuz like you said cuz, Scott shood take tis stuff to Def Jam Poetry or just go str8 to tha streetz and deliver dat message.
Lets leave journalism to journalism. When I'm watching SportsCenter I'm looking for highlights of great sports accomplishments and relevant news/information. Not somebody "flowin" non-sense. -
I totally agree. I met Stuart Scott when I was considering working for ESPN. It probably won't surprise you to hear he's one of the biggest assholes you'll ever meet.
-
yeah, but didn't the whole 'look how witty I am' 90s Sportscenter open the door for stuff like this? If you want scores, just hop on the internet and check it out... or just wait for the box score in the paper the next day like they did back in my day, when they didn't have that damned interleague play and the single-wing was a state-of-the-art offense...
-
And boom goes the dynamite!I'm not sure who is worse... we need you back Sports Machine! How is this for a pitch... George Michael from WHAM! manning the controls this time.
-
ESPN The Uncensored Historynot to be over meta, check out this link to a post that I did a while back about a book that shows what the "real" sportscenter was like. Cocaine, gambling, sexual harrassment, etc. The Bristol headquarters was basically a fraternity house for a bunch of dudes that loved sports. You'll never see ESPN the same way.
-
asweeny, that is some awesome video. We've been trying to get him to host some Current Sports pods but he's a little pricey. HA!
-
I'd rather see "Boom Goes the Dynamite" than Stu Scott hosting SportsCenter. At least there's a compelling reason to watch, whereas Stu Scott makes you wish you had dynamite to blow your TV up.
