And a "militant". Oh snap! The Carters are totally off the Cheney Christmas card list!

While I can understand the reasoning behind the tradition, in times like these there are certain things that need to be said. Plus, who else is better qualified to criticize a presidential administration more than a president? Even if Carter wasn't... well, we won't got there; my point stands.

I am happy to see that Carter is publicly criticizing the Administration. We have been told that there is a tradition of presidents, once they are out of office, abstaining from being critical of subsequent administrations, especially the current one. I think the idea of such a 'tradition' is unreasonable and absurd. Speak your mind.

why do you think islamic militants are around? why the 'Hitler" of Iran is in power? that was all due to Carter's foreign policy...don't you guys get it...the Liberals Left (read: 'progressive' Democrats) hate America and all it stands for...they are socialists bordering on communism...they want to re-distribute wealth to the "needy" so the needy can keep electing them and keep them in power! Just remember - wealth means our taxes, which they will increase to pay for the so-called government programs...the liberals will 'share their wealth'..they wnat to keep it! Once we have a majority of people dependent on government hand outs or depend on entitlement programs - rest assured that it is the day, America dies...can't you tell it is in decline right now!

Yes, there are reasons why Islamic militants want to harm the U.S.; there are reasons why Ahmadinejad is in the presidency in Iran. To reduce these reasons to "all due to Carter's foreign policy" is mistaken and limited. Carter was only president for four years; the policies and actions of the U.S. which have affected other peoples internationally and influenced attitudes toward the U.S. are beyond his individual influence. I do not want harm to come to Americans - this violence is abhorrent and not at all justified. Apart from this recognition, it is possible to understand why/how others perceive us. Our greatest challenge is to influence how the U.S. is perceived around the world. And a large part of influencing perception is to stop exploiting other parts of the world and their resources for corporate profit and to begin valuing peace over forced compliance.
