One word sums up Lydon. Bollocks.

Johnny's right.Punk is not defined by a certain style of appearence, it's spreading the idea that there is a problem here and we should fix it now.it's being unique and prolific.unfortunately, today, when people think of punk they picture a skinny, angry white kid with a mohawk tagging and anarchy symbol on a wall while ditching school.

The state of independent music is quite sorry right now. We have these trendy Pitchfork-adored artists like Wilco and the Shins who play this quaint, inoffensive form of music which isn't necessarily terrible, it's just not terribly engaging either. There's also the modern post-punk, or "post-punk revival" movement, which was promising during roughly the first half of this decade but has since lost its way, and, of course, "emo," which is post-hardcore lapsed into sad self-parody at best. Lydon is dead on here.
