There are more important jobs in the world than the presidency of the United States. I'd imagine Mr. Gore hears the public demand for his candidacy loud and clear. Please cut him some slack ...especially on threads he opens up for discussion about desperately crucial human rights issues.
thx <3 ;)

  • I'm not sure that Gore can't be an "outsider" to the Beltway and still run for president. As president, he can do more to advance the fight against global warming than in any other position, including Nobel winner. Oscar winner plus Emmy winner plus Nobel winner, plus Senator plus Vice President plus President surely trumps any resume in history. Please Al, run!

  • I think Mr Gore knows that anything he does will attract us. These are policy statements and when you are waiting for someone to jump into a presidential race and they issue policy statements, it's very exciting.

  • Respectfully, I disagree. There is no more powerful platform to address the world's problems than as President of the United States. Not even the Pope is as powerful. Even running on an issue can raise that issue up to the level where it becomes imperative that it is acted upon. In 1992, Ross Perot bought 30 minutes of network prime time to explain to Americans why the Budget Deficit was bad. Of course he didn't win, but because of his campaign, the Clinton Administration made balancing the budget a priority.

Al Gore's candidacy would raise Global Warming as the most important issue facing this country. In this case, Gore would win and with his considerable political capital shift this country's economy to significantly reduce greenhouse gases.

  • and it is quite condescending to call us boys and girls. You could have left it at fans.

I am older than PatrickEdwardMurray, but maybe not as old as you.

I'm sure Gore's "fans" are a cross-section of America, and I'm suspecting you are one of us.

  • Thanks. I wish people were so gung ho about actually doing more on these sites than "campaigning." I suspect he would ilke to actually read points of view in lieu of the same cheerleading day in and day out.

  • As I said in another thread Jan, we would do better to stop bickering between us. You call out cheerleading, yet I hear a lot of anti-'cheerleading' from you, so that is curtailing the issues you could be working on instead of trying to change our minds. We think it would be effective for Al to work within the system to make change, if you do not, that is okay, you're entitled to your opinion. Please, focus on climate solutions... we all agree on that, you don't have to agree with what we are doing, but it takes time away from what you want to accomplish arguing with us and that truly accomplishes nothing. I don't want your time to be wasted when you could be doing great work on climate solutions which is something we can all agree on anyway.

With all due respect, I wasn't addressing you here and I will do as I please. Thanks. Oh, and I am a great multi-tasker, but thanks for your concern.
