So few liberals have ANY understanding of the depotic genius of neoconservative foreign policy. Militancy for resourse gain is the most historically proven foreign policy, now, yesterday, and tomorrow. If your going to criticize war for oil you best the strange realistic brilliance of the practice. Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Libby, all the historically-aware realists that brought us Iraq II, had it all planned out and saw Sept 11 as the opportunity.

hmm... so now the sick plans of a few opportunists who have have the blood of Iraqi and American civilians on their hands is strangely brilliant? I can hardly agree with you. However, I agree that Americans [not just liberals] need to try harder to understand the other side, and I am not ignorant enough to think that there can be world peace [violence is inherently human, especially with dwindling resources and survival at stake] But the Iraq war has gone past the point of well-planned and thought out, the Bush administration did this war wrong on all accounts--bold move no doubt--if they were "historically-aware" as you claim they would have looked at other post-war reconstruction efforts [bosnia-herzegovina, Somalia etc] and realize that they need to do it right aka send in WAY more troops at the beginning, declare marshal law so that there isn't looting [which ultimately led to the steep increse in Islamic fundamentalism, as those leaders were the only ones providing safety], not fire the entire Iraqi police force and leave thousands of armed, trained pissed of Iraqis and finally to give our troops the proper equipment to do their jobs. This is a tragic case of "it sounded like a good idea"

Also, I don't see anything about Iraq/Middle East past 2005 in this website you linked to...maybe an update explaining just how this cluster f*&k is in line with their great plans would help convince me of their argument.
