  • I will tell you my friend. it's his so called You are killing the planet crap! He says that, gets paid, gets in his PRIVATE jet and flies to the next pay stop opps I mean Global Warming Expo. I would beleive him if he did as he preaches. late Rip

    Krugman's article is great.

    Why does Al drive them crazy? Despite the right's smear campaigns and lies, Al Gore has proven to be correct on every issue, and neither the country nor the world has succombed to the right's disinformation campaign on Al.

    Al has maintained his integrity and improved his standing in the world, and they can't stand to be proven wrong because at heart they're authoritarian bullies whose agenda for world domination is very threatened by the truth.

    They hate Al because he makes them look like the fools they are!

    Al flies commercial whenever it is possible. He does not own a private jet. He's open about discussing these topics.

    Ask him yourself! He's already posted on this site. Maybe he can help clear up some of these misunderstandings you have about his environmental record.

    I find it sad that you think he is in this for the money he is paid for his speaking engagements. You do know that he donated his ENTIRE Nobel Prize to environmental charities?

  • SirRip, he is doing what he is preaching but you should actually learn what he is doing rather than
    just get your "news" from his enemies -- which is of course always much more convenient.

    I don't remember a single occasion when Gore preached that private jets should be eliminated.
    Also I know for a fact that he rarely uses them and only when a commercial flight is not available.

    What's your problem with that?
    It's not that people should stop flying. It's that they should reduce their carbon footprint as much as possible.

    Whining about private jets is just another way for those who do not want to do anything about their own emission to find some easy exuse.

If we can comunicate thru the internet and all of the channels on tv and radio, how come we need some high priced wanna be that took 100,000 from China for their campaign, tell us what is right when he goes gallyvanting around on jets, and in SUVs, the #1 truck on the environmenelist list of greenhouse gases? nough said ty and good day late Rip

    Gore uses a hybrid. Yes there are hybrid SUVs too!
    Try to buy one. They are much better than your boorish gas guzzler.


    What's your obsession with jets? Yes if you want to go from, say, Washington to Tokyo you better use an airplane as ships actually emit far more CO2.
    What's your problem? You really think Gore proposes that people should stop flying no matter what?

  • stardate, the 100,000 is true do the research they gave it back after being caught and was told it was illeagal but i guess its ok they are Dems right. the jets might not be in his name but they are private. you can't tell me he can't get a flight where ever he wants to go. they tell us to carpool so maybe he could planepool. then he would be more creditable. the courts said that he was wrong on 9 counts in his book so if he was wrong 9 times in a book how many times would he be wrong in life YOU DO AND SAY WHAT MONEY TELLS YOU.     No it's not true. Gore had nothing to do with that contribution. Some corrupt fundraisers had but we were not talking about Dems but Gore.
    "Dems" mean millions of people and there are criminals among them just like in any other large group. That doesn't mean every single one of them is a criminal.

    If you have evidence that Gore willingly accepted money from the Chinese provide the evidence.
    But this has been investigated by the FBI and as you can read in Freeh's book they found Gore did nothing wrong. End of story.

    commercial flight available. So what? Did he ever say that private jets should be eliminated from the face of the Earth? No. It wouldn't be a solution and you would be the first to call him insane if he had said that. There is no condtradiction between what he has done and what he said.

    UK judge says there we 9 'errors' in An Inconvenient Truth. The press really got lazy on this one. It depends on what you think 'an error' is. Science not disputed, only presentation. Judge himself says in the decision that: "Al Gore's presentation of the causes and likely effects of climate change in the film was broadly accurate." and "the hearing before me did not relate to an analysis of the scientific questions"

    Tell me how many times Gore used a private jet and whether at those times a commercial flight was also available.

    Also please tell me where Gore travelled and whether that trip was for the purpose of doing business or merely to have fun.

    He planepools all the time. You just ignore that because it doesn't fit in your false picture about Gore.

    Also, he does say that you should carpool whenever you can. But he doesn't say that you should stop using a "private car". So again: what's your point?

    You managed to be wrong twice in such a short sentence but you will teach Gore about how to be right?
    Not in the book but in the movie and not the courts but just one individual who happens to be a judge and who apparently either didn't see the movie or he doesn't care what Gore actually said.

    Not that a judge is some kind of scientific authority anyway. But if he says so it must be so, right?
    Except he is dead wrong. First he shouldn't have put words in Gore's mouth. Second he should have read the IPCC report and the reports on the Tuvalu evacuation and at least know when that picture of the Kilimanjaro was taken. (clue: not in the 19th century)

    They can't afford to have their worldview questioned so they will come up with the same old half assed lies and innuendos they did in the past. As these posts have proven, the right can't touch Al, because HE is on the side of truth, THEY are not.

    On the other hand, we have an administration right now that is going to go down as the most corrupt, authoritiarian, anti-democratic presidency EVER. You want to get pissed off about something, how about the loss of civil rights, warrentless wiretapping and wars of choice driven by lies. And for what, to enrich campaign donors! You want corruption? You just have to scratch the surface of the Republican party and the stench will practically kill you.

  • I know one time he used a couple of 'private jets'. When he went into NO to rescue over 200 trapped while Bush played guitar and cut cake for a fund raiser. The usual photo opp for Bush. President Gore never said a word or used what he did for any reason but to help when your boy woudn't. President Gore is the people's president.....always will be.

    For a lot of people, if they admit that Al is right about anything, it's just one step further to the fact that he tends to be right about EVERYTHING and then their whole worldview comes crashing down. Too scary.

    Better to spout nonsense from Sean Hannity (who actually demands a private plane whenever he makes an appearance at an affiliate radio station.)

  • Gore drives the right-wingers insane because they all know that Gore actually won in 2000.

    Gore is also constant reminder of the illigitimacy of bush's presidency and shows that voting for someone because you would like to have a beer with them is a stupid reason. The right-wingers have to trash Gore because they can't even think about all that "catastrophic success" their pretzeldent has "achieved."
