Murdoch's stance actually might be a bit more complicated than that, however.

And that's, The Word.

I agree with Robbeh! Everytime I see something with O'Reilly, it makes me realize the genius of Colbert.

LOL, o please bill isn't that bad! I watch the show occasionally, and I'm willing to admit hes not that ignorant.
-
bdr, its a parody, and considering that hes on national TV, he is that bad. someone making as many mistakes as consistantly as he does should not be on a national show where people take him seriously!

Response to ExpandedCelt:
He actually doesn't make that many mistakes. I watch the show daily, and he gets most of his facts right. I am willing to admit, because i am reasonable, that he does mess up a few times. This is understandable because half the time he isn't reading of a teleprompter, but rather, hes improvising. Similar to Stephen Colbear (or however you spell it). He may mess up, but its not nearly as often, or as bad as the liberal media. This video is an extreme exaggeration, of how he really is. As a sensible conservative, i laugh at this, but it's just plain out wrong. -
BDR-
"Similar to Stephen Colbert..."
You DO realize that Colbert is a comic and not a pundit. So if he messes up or improvises then it's comedic and entertaining. However, Bill O'Reilly is supposed to be informative and therefore must be held to a higher standard than one of comic relief. When he erroneously states false facts or embelished opinions then he can shape those words as fact in those who believe him. Some people watch Bill with the assumption that what he says is the truth, and that isn't the case.
In fact, a large majority of the correspondents on Fox often add "personal opinion"(using the term personal loosely since they frequently use the same talking points) to their broadcasts, and some people can't distinguish those opinions from fact or rather they identify with their opinions and accept them as truth.
Opinionated news can be done(i.e. current), but it must be done responsibly, accurately, and without bias. Fox News has not held to any of those standards, and leads the charge for media propaganda machines masquerading as news sources. Bill O' Reilly has created himself as the poster-child for mis-informing the masses.
P.S.- This video is a parody that embelishes the character he portrays in the media. I'm glad you can laugh at this, but I say that if Bill can rip apart Barack Obama for at least 15 minutes every week, then Current should be able to mock him for 4 minutes with no complaints.

First of all Bill rarely makes mistakes. I'm a daily watcher (mostly for entertainment value), and very few mistakes are made. Many sites such as "GodIhateBillO'Reilly.com", try to expose mistakes Bill makes, but when one further investigates this site's claims, they are mostly bull shit them selfs. Other news cooperations nitpick Bill, one common claim, Bill tells his debate opponents to shut up on his show. Bill responded to this claim he only told 2 of his opponents to shut up. The news countered this by releasing a montage of him telling people to shut up. Of course the video took the meaning of "shut up" out of context. Bill has told his opponents to shut up in a jokingly, rhetorical way. Only two times has he really asked his opponent to shut up, because, they were just babbling on, and hogging talk time.
In conclusion, the sites that pick on Bill are making bullshit claims, that their gullible viewers agree with, mostly because they are liberal sheep. Liberals HATE Bill, and thats because he has a different viewpoint then their own. Instead of siding with, any attack on Bill, i recommend counter researching these claims, and you'll find Bill isn't as wrong as often as hes made out to be.
P.S. Please don't tell me current isn't biased! Almost everyone on here is a brainwashed liberal. Most of the people on here are incredibly uninformed and fall into common uninformed liberal arguments (i.e. "change the subject and attack", "Lack of content, resort to high school insults", "constant use of poor logic, fallacies", "Use of logic with no evidence", ect.) These are common devices used by liberals. Also one more thing, Bill doesn't "rip apart" Barrack OBama. Obama is under qualified to be president (which is true), and that is the only thing i have seen Bill really rip him apart over. Oh, yea the reverend Wreight thing, but he deserves it.
-
First of all, I can't argue on a factual basis if you continue to derive your facts from opinion. It's your opinion as a daily watcher that "bill rarely makes mistakes", or that I'm a "American hating liberal", or that Bill only tells people to "shut up when they talk too much". That's your opinion, you're entitled to it but I did not see fact 1 about why Bill does what he does. Just why you think he does what he does.
One question: How do you make a minute long montage with two clips? No, they did not just repeat two clips over and over again either, I've seen that montage before.
Second, you're being a complete hypocrite by bashing liberals and then demoralizing them for the same thing your doing to them. This is a common tactic of conservatives to go on the attack and the claim a defensive position when countered. An old debating trick that only works well when it's not picked up on, or if the audience favors you. Frankly, it would've worked better if you didn't refer to them as "liberal sheep"(not to mention the obvious oxymoron there).
In addition, why do I need to counter-research claims O'Reilly proves every time he opens his mouth? You wouldn't believe anything I came back with anyway. Which is another thing that bothers me about the conservative mentality. A difference of opinion bothers you because you can't stand to be wrong. Rather, you always think you are right and everyone else is wrong, which is why many of you have been plugging your ears and whistling the Star-Spangled Banner while the economy is taking a dive.
Finally, I will assure you that current is not biased at all. Last time I checked you didn't get kicked off current for having a different opinon. Which is fine with me, you don't have to agree with me which is why I don't try to force my political views down your throat. I thought I responded to you in a polite manner before, apparently you took offense that I thought Bill embelishes the truth more often than a good political pundit should.
P.S. In one show alone, Bill used his air time to make a talking point segment on why Obama should answer for the pastor's "racists remarks"(which are tame compared to KKK members and Internet racists, believe me). Bill insinuated the presidental canidate could be an America-hater. He showed Obama refuting Wright's opinion and glossed over it to take another shot at him and the "liberal media".
He and Newt Gingrich then assume that this is every sermon he has ever preached for 20 years, that Obama knew his pastor felt that way, and that he is unfit to run because of it(poor judgement, they call it). No matter how bad his pastor's opinions are, he is his own man and has his own views(as shown by his speech made later that week).
Last time I checked, Bush had the lowest IQ of any president ever. How can you tell me Obama is underqualified when he is smarter than the current commander-in-chief? If anything he's overqualified!

Please tell me your kidding about the whole Obama thing?
I'm willing to admit, i was a bit hypocritical, by bashing liberals. I was about to wave the white flag, that is until you started with the whole Obama bit.
The pastors opinion does matter! Obama has said many times that Wrieght is his "moral guide post", his "inspiration," and is responsible for bring him to the light of Christianity! Wreight is racist, and anti-American, and for Obama to sit their for 20 years, leaves me very concerned. This is possibly our future commander and chief, and the fact that he has any relations with a horrible man, is very disturbing. I heard his speech, and i, along with most Americans didn't buy it. It was giving the people what they wanted to hear, so he could stay in the election. Obama lied about the pastor (Not knowing he was saying racist & anti-American things), then in his new speech, he all the sudden is aware of all the bad things he said ("i have known him to be harsh critique on foreign policy"). If Obama really was a true American, he would dump Wrieght, and side with America, instead he fed his gullible fans, his loyalty to his reverend. He made it seem he had character for not dumping wright, when in reality, he just sent a message to everyone, he puts friendships before America. Just what we need in office...
I really do hope you were kidding 100% about the whole IQ comment. Are you trying to tell me, you think Obama is qualified because of his IQ? Do i really need to evaluate this? In case you didn't know, most psychiatrists consider the IQ system to be a joke in the first place, and even still, IQ reflects no way on leadership abilities.
The reason why Obama has gotten this far, is simply because he is a gimmick. Obama's record is embarrassing. He has attracted so many people for two reasons: A: he's black B: hes inspiring. Inspiring?
Yes, i kid you not, most Obama supporters like him simply because he is inspiring. It's not like they can actually like his policies, they are either garbage or un announced. You know who els in history was inspiring? Hitler. Hitler rallied the masses simply because he was inspiring, and a talented speaker. If Germany knew what the Nazi's hidden agenda was, i doubt, he would have made it far.The fact that Obama is black has taken him very far. It's a gimmick. If a white person came along with his same qualifications, he would have been laughed all the way home. On Obamas site, he only talks about his Senate years, college years, and even more hysterically, his high school years. He is the only candidate in the election to have his highschool years in his record (After checking his site a few min. ago, he took down his highschool record...). As we all know, high school is a joke, and know one cares about it.
All Obama is, is mindless rhetoric, "change", "change". Change what? He fails to answer the question. People like the sound of change, and thats why he has gotten this far. Hes under qualified, and his record agrees.
It will be a sad day in America if Obama is elected president. Luckily, it probably won't happen. Because of the self centered agendas of the democratic party, theya re still fihgint over the nomination, which over time splits the party, and will lead to another republican victory. While Hilary and Obama are telling lies, playing the race card, and spewing rhetoric to all his/her gullible fans, McCain is deeply researching all the issues and holding meetings with Bush. When election comes around, will see whose really qualified.
PS: I would love to see these IQ results you speak of? Please, sauce...

Lol... You were gonna wave the white flag? Everyone knows you guys always stay the course no matter how many people get killed.
Before you get out your can of white-wash and paint Wright a racist, how about you listen to more of his sermons than just the soundbytes they played on Fox News? I'll even give you a couple bucks to buy them off I-Tunes! They were really pissed off because he said a lot of negative things about the government, so they are trying to pidgeon-hole him as a racist. That's why they play the 30 to 40 seconds of his sermons and nothing else.
What pissed you off in paticular about Wright's sermon as a white person? I heard some dissent against America, condemning the policies in place to keep the common man down. He said the country was controlled by "rich white people". Isn't it run by rich white people? Who runs the most Fortune 500 companies, the Federal Reserve, the most conglomerates, corporations, and businesses? Rich white people do. How is it racist to say that? Are black people not allowed to talk about the country in a negative light without being labeled a racist?

(Continued.)
He said "God damn America for killing innocent people..." and for the injustices perpetrated on its people. That doesn't sound racist either. Neither does the bombing of Hiroshima or Nagasaki (although I am also well aware of the opinion of the American Government that this strategy saved more lives that was taken) or his discussion of the terrorist attacks. Anti-American? Maybe, but I thought Jefferson often stated that "dissent is the highest form of patriotism". When looking for ideals on what it means to be an American I'll side with a founding father any day. Racism was nowhere in there.
As a private church, I think the pastor should not catch heat from delivering a heated sermon about the relation of politics and religion. Bush has been mixing religion and politics for 8 years without a media backlash problem. And as far as not disowning the pastor he has known for 20+ years to win an election, I think it shows a tremendous amount of loyalty (which is an excellent quality to have as a president). Everyone says "Obama doesn't have the experience", or he's "not qualified enough". And even you have the gall to call Wright a racist and in the same statement tell me that "Obama only got this far because he's black". Who's really a racist? Being black isn't a gimmick either, it's not like he washes off his blackness in the shower. I'm not the big Obama supporter you probably think I am. I can honestly say I didn't care for any of the canidates at all. Personally they all seemed the same except for Ron Paul because he got up there and told the truth about American Politics. However, you guys sure seem to hate Obama a lot, so he must be doing something right.
Fox calls him a "halfrican", constantly refers to him as Hussein in a weak attempt to associate him with terrorists, inaccurately report his past(he didn't go to an "Anti-American Madrassa"), bash him, bash his wife, and compare him to Hitler because he is inspiring. Well, Bush is an inspriation to some Republicans. Does that make HIM Hitler? Of course not, because you LIKE Bush.
I.Q. isn't a requirement? I.Q. tests are full of crap? I guess that has something to do with the fact that Dick Cheney himself said that the more educated people become the more they tend to vote Democratic. But I have to apologize on my own erronious comment, because Bush isn't the president with the lowest I.Q. ever. He is, however, the president with the lowest I.Q. in the last 50 years according to a report by the Pennislyvania Court Observer.
http://www.linkydinky.com/BushIQ.shtml
Actually, Obama's political stances are easy to find, but I doubt you care to see them. Which is fine that's your opinion to be uninformed on opposing views. That's also the reason you make gross generalizations and libelious remarks about Democrats and liberals and base your political views on them.
In the end, I won't make any political predictions or proclaimations because in the end the people will decide who wins and loses and not you or me alone. Qualifications count for nothing too. Man has proven time and time again that amateurs can be better than professionals. Everytime a rookie athlete shines, everytime an up-and-comer makes it big, and everytime a talented person comes into his own. Exprience doesn't matter. The only experience a president truly needs is 35 years of life as a natural-born American. That's one of the reasons why the ideal of America is so great: almost anyone can run for and become president.
Believe me when I say this though:
No one will be happy with another Republican term, whether they realize it now or not.-

i agree strongly with lifestudent, and i must also add that every republican calling out obama for a lack of experience is a total hypocrite. ask any republican who theyre favorite president was, and they will 90% of the time say "ronald reagan, reaganomics ftw!!!" now tell me, was he any more or less experienced than obama is? and dont even get me started on backgrounds...

Response to lifestudentno83:
Your whole reverend Wrieght argument is pretty bad. You blame me for picking a choosing Wrieght's quotes, yet you go yourself and to the same. The fact of the matter is, Wrieght is spewing wrong, exaggerated, racist information, all to express his own resentment of this country. What he said in his sermons was racist; when he says the government is run by "Rich ""White"" men", which is wrong, the Government is run by "Rich men". He then goes on to distort facts and spew shit about how bad the government is. Wait, didn't he just say the government was run by "Rich WHITE men". All of his speeches are attacks on whites, its quite obvious to anyone who isn't doused in bias.It honestly doesn't matter if "Fox News" (as you claim) only takes segments of his sermons. The context is preserved, and what we have heard, it's factually wrong and anti-American.
""I think it shows a tremendous amount of loyalty (which is an excellent quality to have as a president)."" Yea thats exactly what we want, a president who puts friends before his country. Hes a traitor! If he cared about his country, he would have dumped the pastor 20 years ago.
-
""And even you have the gall to call Wright a racist and in the same statement tell me that "Obama only got this far because he's black". Who's really a racist?""
Do you even know what racist means? No, no no, don't bother looking it up on Dictionary.com. Thats the new reformed version. The word "racist" has slowly distorted itself into this wimpy name calling tool. As defined by oxford: Racist- (Paraphrased while maintaining context) Generalizing qualities of a race, especially to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race.Reverend Wreight=Racist _BDR_= Not at all
The truth is, Obama has gotten this far because hes black, nowhere do i see even any hint of racism, even by the new modern version of racist's standards. Hes a gimmick, people want him to win because he preaches change, and hes a fresh face (If you know what i mean). People like the idea of a black man entering office, which has greatly contributed to his success. Honestly if a white man came along with his same standards and policies (Which, by the way, i am quite knowledgeable of, contrary to your beliefs), he would have been laughed all the way home.
I don't care about the IQ crap, its irrelevant, and you shouldn't have brought it up. IQ is deferent from increasing education. Don't try use your own fault, in bringing up IQ, as a gateway to another attack on Dick Chaney.
-
""Which is fine that's your opinion to be uninformed on opposing views.""
cute
""The only experience a president truly needs is 35 years of life as a natural-born American. That's one of the reasons why the ideal of America is so great: almost anyone can run for and become president.""
Sadly, not true. I would never vote an rookie into President of our country. No one off the street can just walk on into the office, it's an extremely demanding position, that just takes experience. Some things in life require practice to be good at. President is one example, another is driving a car. A man is measured by his failing's. No record, no fails, no measurement. You can go ahead and play a game of Russian Rollete with our country, but I think ill take the smart approach and follow the record.
""Fox calls him a "halfrican", constantly refers to him as Hussein in a weak attempt to associate him with terrorists,""
Hilarious you bring this up, its a common misconception the whole Hussein thing was started by the conservatives. It was in fact started by your own party (Hilary to be more exact). Apparently you aren't aware of the fact that Hussein is Obama's middle name. If its his name, then why can't we call him that? What is there to be ashamed of? You angry liberals are the ones taking it negatively.""bash him, bash his wife, and compare him to Hitler because he is inspiring. Well, Bush is an inspriation to some Republicans. Does that make HIM Hitler? Of course not, because you LIKE Bush.""
I feel like i have to walk you though everything, because you are desperately trying to attack me. It seems you are purposely twisting everything to defend you already weak position to begin with. Well, here we go again. As i stated in my original post: ""Yes, i kid you not, most Obama supporters like him simply because he is inspiring. It's not like they can actually like his policies, they are either garbage or un announced. You know who els in history was inspiring? Hitler.""
The keyword is "SIMPLY." If you ask most Obama supporters about his actual policies, most of them will draw a blank. And if they do know about his policies, then they almost purposely ignore reality and facts such as an immediate withdrawal from Iraq. Not possible, all the generals agree. Obama is just feeding the people what they want to hear. No one likes war, not even conservatives, but we all need to band together finish the mission, and allow our troops to come home with honor.
You said a lot more rubbish, but this post is long enough. I thought i hit the main "misconceptions". Because thats what they are, all your arguments purposely distort the meaning of my words to prove your point. This is no surprise, most liberals have a tendency to tap-dance around the truth.
-
Response to ExpandedCelt:
Go ahead ask me my favorite Republican President. The answer will be Abraham Lincoln. Most conservatives would agree. But lets play along with your Reagan thing for the sake of argument. I compared the two records, and i found Regan's to be still more impressive. Senator Presidents (Such as Obama) are ranked the lowest in the ranking for the best presidents. The list of best presidents is fairly subjunctive, but its a general list I'm sure both parties would easily agree with. The best ranked presidents were previous military veterans (I.E. John McCain). Regan had experience as the governor of California. Ex-Governors were ranked second best presidents.
Now there is the possibility Obama could be one of those senators to surprise us. Like i said earlier, i don't believe in playing Russian Rollete with the office. Especially in the predicament we are in now. Obama will earn my vote if he can shape up his policies and beef up his record.
PEACE BDR- I didn't bother proofreading, so expect a few typos. Thanks for understanding.
-
"Your whole reverend Wrieght argument is pretty bad. You blame me for picking a choosing Wrieght's quotes, yet you go yourself and to the same."
I didn't pick those quotes, these were the ones used on Fox News and ABC. I thought you would remember the same lines you might have heard regurgitated over and over again.
"The fact of the matter is, Wrieght is spewing wrong, exaggerated, racist information, all to express his own resentment of this country."
That was proven fact? Sounds like your opinion to me. You still haven't told me specifically what you as a white male found offensive about the soundbites of that speech. I spent two posts breaking most of that down as well.
How is saying the government is run by rich white men a racist again? Should he have said "rich people who are, coincidentally, white males"... less offensive?
The majority of the government is run by white males, that IS TRUTH. Not only is it truth, but common knowledge.Honestly, it does matter that the news only plays what it wants you to hear: It's called bias.
"Yea thats exactly what we want, a president who puts friends before his country."
You mean like George Bush did when he hired Micheal Brown as Director of FEMA? Personally, I'd like to see a little backbone in my presidential canidates instead of spineless slithering out of repsonsibility everytime something goes wrong.
Racism:
"Generalizing qualities of a race, especially to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race""The truth is, Obama has gotten this far because hes black... ...Honestly if a white man came along with his same standards and policies (Which, by the way, i am quite knowledgeable of, contrary to your beliefs), he would have been laughed all the way home."
Open foot, insert mouth.
You basically said that Obama standards and policies are inferior to a white man's standard and policies. Laughable in comparison. Yet, this isn't racist because you didn't call him the N-word or directly call him an inferior thinker... Yeah right. Again, how is being black a gimmick? And I was quoting Cheney, not attacking him. But I suppose IQ is irrelevant to you because it hurts your arguement when used. One thing is for sure, it's not flattering to be the president with the lowest IQ in 50 years.
"Sadly, not true. I would never vote an rookie into President of our country. No one off the street can just walk on into the office, it's an extremely demanding position, that just takes experience."
Again, that's your opinion. The facts are, a natural-born citizen at the age of 35 with legal residency within the United States CAN run for presidency, exprienced or not.
Obama is not inexperienced in the workings of the legal systems or government since he graduated from Harvard and Columbia Unversity and worked with the Illinois senate for 9 years in addition to his time as a U.S. Senator.-

"its a common misconception the whole Hussein thing was started by the conservatives."
Two wrongs don't make a right.
Does it matter whether or not they started it? My point is that they do it, and they do it to try associate his name with fear. Same reason why you compare him to Hitler. I'm sorry, no matter how good you think you can clean that one up it still makes that statement sound like the keyword is "Hitler".Also, it would be greatly appreciated if you didn't make blanket statements like "If you ask most Obama supporters about his actual policies, most of them will draw a blank," or "all the generals agree." There is no way you can prove this so you are assuming and generalizing. I seriously doubt you have conversations with Obama supporters about politics, or know any of our commanding officials opinions outside of what General Betrayus said. Petraeus. Sorry that was a typo.
Bush likes this war, why do you think we are still over there if the Mission Accomplished was 4 1/2 years ago? These men are profiting from the deaths of brave American soldiers, as well as innocent Iraqi people.I don't expect you to understand how I feel or why I feel the way I do. I don't expect to change your mind, or to make you agree with me. Personally, I am sad that there are people who still choose to believe everything the government tells them wholesale. Maybe one day, you will realize the wool is being pulled over your eyes while they're pulling the rug from under your feet.
Also, please stop attacking my opinion by calling it rubbish or misconception. I have not insulted you at all or even once. I stuck to the topic at hand as well as delved into some debate about consevatism, and included factual examples and facts. I even provided sources for some items. I make it a personal habit to get as close to the truth as possible when forming an opinion, can admit when I am wrong, and keep an open mind.
In closing, I never distorted any of your words. I didn't make you say anything, I just re-posted what you said and made a rebuttal. You can look up a few post back and see that's the case. And I don tap-dance around the truth, I look for it anywhere I can. From what I've seen, you've been waltzing away from it with your talking points in hand.
P.S.- Abe Lincoln's your favorite president? That's funny, since the Repbublican party was the liberal party at the time of the Civil War. You would kinda think that would make you more of a liberal thinker than a conservative one...
