Here in Georgia it is becoming common conversation to mention the local water problem. My local community is considered to be in Extreme Drought and as you can see in this animation of the drought spread it isn't so localized. The only thing we can do is do all we can to conserve. So for all of those who havn't stright up shut off the sprinkler system please do so and remember that just because a drought is over doesn't mean you have to waste water.

The Southeast and the Southwest will feel this the most, and you are so right that people must conserve water, because this is just the beginning. Lakes and rivers all over this country are now way below normal levels. And just as with the climate crisis, people have been warned for years regarding what our wasteful habits combined with climate change would bring. States are already fighting over water rights. Can you imagine the scenario should it run out? It is as simple as thinking about the future and your fellow man. I am sad to think that we in this country don't have the capacity to do either anymore.

Water Crisis = War?It would really suck to see our next civil war to start over water. You see it happening already in certain areas of the world and desperation always leads to rash and harsh decisions. Remember you can only live for 7 days without water and 14 without food. Food will not survive without water either. Its a never ending cycle ad something every single human on earth should be concerned about. Be cognitive.

I think a little jail time could help get some people ro listen up.

I don't hold much for overcrowding our criminal institutions anymore than they already are. Some form of forced regulation that can be administered by a local justice system would be nice though. For example if an abuser continues to abuse you can regulate their water by providing them with a certain amount of gallons of drinking water that they can pick up at a local municipal office and regulators with timers at the source to enforce regulation without supervision. Repeat offenders can be forced into investing in a reclamation system and attempt to make water out of nothing themselves. Of course implenting this on an already stressed, usually municipally controlled, system where they have trouble fixing their own usage problems would be nearly impossible. This is an opportunity for people to speak up and educate. Take it into your own hands. Push for local reform within your community and make it a public effort. Of course if you are capable of influencing a larger group of people take that advantage and use it.
