There are two questions here: is income tax moral and constitutional? and is what the Feds are trying to do with this web site constitutional? It is kind of a slippery slope because what these companies were attempting to do is teach people how to break the law, but is it just civil disobedience?

This is a difficult question about the morality of government. I believe personally that if you are participating in state-supported programs (which almost all of us do), then of course you should have to pay taxes. However, if you choose to live off the grid, then you should be able to do that as well.
Back to the issue at hand, however, my initial reaction is that information should be free, but I do somewhat agree with the judge's decision and reasoning. -
i think the court was wrong in 69 and they are wrong now. their job is to uphold the constitution not to abridge it . either we have the freedom of speech or we do not. and just what is" incited criminal conduct" mean? if you state your opinion and someone does something you are liable for their actions? poppycock.
that seems too easily abused a phrase. we are all responsible for our own actions.
that being said i pay taxes. i use the roads. i avail myself of many federally sponsored luxuries in america. i may not agree with my governments current policies but withholding my fair share just sounds like rationalizing something wrong.. although if they made money off these websites is it free speech or free enterprise? because i dont think they or any business should get away with knowingly misrepresenting their product. because if he said legally and then people went to jail after following his advice i would have to say maybe he should have said legally (in moral theory ) or some such.. and be liable for fiscal reimbursement but to lose his freedom? just how "false" were the things he said? and how do we prove he knew they were false? aren't taxes just a temporary measure to defeat the british anyway ? whats all the fuss?-

I pay taxes proudly. They support our government and the things I think are important.

although to be fair to the other side i do feel 30 + percent of ones wages going to "taxes" is certainly not a fair and prudent amount it leaves the lower and middle class crippled. while the higher income brackets pay much less. so their is certainly room for angst.
