Would you trade your car for a bike? Would you live a year of your life with out driving a car just to prove it could be done? Some people are. Plus they get to spend more time outdoors and stop wasting money and polluting the environment driving their inefficient cars. It's a simple concept but could be a revolutionary one, just go ride a bike.

  • bikes are great, i agree. i ride mine on nice sunny weekends in Portland. ( insert joke here)
    the automobile is one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century. ask your grandparents how important the invention was.
    now we need to improve on the dated designs of our past. the technology is there and needs to be implemented.
    we just need BETTER cars. period.
    this is a nice idea but not a solution to the problem.

  • Their is a man they call Mr.Greaves, who mysteriously lost his job shortly after getting married, he lay upon his wife's couch for five years, until one day he got an uncontrollable urge to ride his bicycle from San Francisco to Santa Monica.

    It took Greaves two weeks to complete the journey, it was hard for the man, as his legs had severely atrophied from many years as a layabout, but he pushed on and on and endured many hardships.
    Their were balloons and a small parade upon his arrival in Santa Monica. Greaves has been nominated for several awards and special medallions. He now feels quite vigorous.

    I agree with twon, I think that we can't really exchange our car for a bike especially in the US where the cities are big huge. Biofuel is more a solution, but I agree that everybody should use a bike as often as one can.------

  • I'm 35 and live just outside of Denver and have never owned an auto. I bike everywhere, all the time, in any weather, 24/7-365. Commuter, Downhill, BMX.. Granted any of my bikes cost as much as some peoples car... It's a choice very few I have met are willing to make. Soon everyone may be forced to make that choice. Rising gas prices, lowering dollar value, weak economy.... I don't think most americans could transition to being so physically involved with their mode of transport. I definitely think it would put into perspective what a mile is really worth.

  • I have just started biking instead of driving, and even during this heat wave that we are having in Sonoma County, I like it better than driving.

    I think that every one who can should ride a bike instead of drive.
