Honda's Asimo robot finally gets ability to react and respond independently in its environment. First steps toward functioning personal robots?

So cool. A tiny bit scary. But mostly, just awesome.

Amazing! It is slightly scary...but I hope to assimilate before the robots take over!

Hero 2000 - one boy's childhood dreamI can't wait for my own Asimo robot. Here's a picture of the personal robot I used to dream of having when I was a kid

Asimo is just too cuteI like how Honda is collaborating with Carnegie Mellon University instead of trying to solve all of his shortcomings on their own.

I am wondering why they are showing ASIMO version 1.5? I am one of 25 people on the planet certified to operate ASIMO, it was my job before working here at current. Version 2.0 is far more advanced and has the obsticle avoidance system built into him. Version 2 is also not as cute as version 1 or 1.5. I have a huge crush on him, still to this day, and get goosebumps everytime i see him in person. In 2003 i crashed one of them in philly at a demo for kids at the museum of science, it took me a long time to get back into the saddle and operate him again. I will dig up the footage of that fall and post it here. :)

1 of 25? talk about bragging rights! (:
BTW, footage or it didn't happen... -
Shay, I have no idea. Don't know how old the video footage is. Could be 2.0 owes its avoidance system to these guys...
