Man, she is just adorable!!! What a cute kid! But it does make me feel like I'm not quite ready for my own yet, cute as I think little tykes are. That's a lot of work! How do you know when you're ready to have a kid?

what will you do with this once she is a teenager?

My son was a cheerful, active baby. He never had the "terrible twos" (he waited until age 17 to be terrible, but only for a year or so, and then he turned back into a human being). But...one time he was out-of-control crying and I knew he was just tired, but couldn't get him to calm down. So I put him in his room--he had just moved from the crib to a real bed--and I locked the door. He was pounding on the door and screaming, and I was at my wits' end, so I went to the bathroom and turned on the shower and the faucet in the sink so that I couldn't hear him. It saved my sanity. When I came out after about 5 minutes, I heard only silence. Of course my first thought was, "My God, what if he's dead!" Way too dramatic, but that's a young mom for you. When I unlocked the door, I had a hard time pushing it open because there he was, fast asleep, on his knees, face against the door, with fists still raised in pounding position. I carried him to his bed and the incident was never repeated.

BBC ' "Little Angels" seriesThere's a brilliant BBC series about how to deal with toddlers tantrums, sleeping problems, etc. A book has also come out on that subject.

Sleeping with your child. An article in the New York Times says, "it is far more common than many people think. Nearly 13 percent of parents in the United States slept with their infants in 2000, up from 5.5 percent in 1993, according to a report last month in the journal Infant and Child Development." I guess it is more common than i thought.

that also sounds like good advice for a lot of our political leaders. they seem to regard public opinion on a lot of issues such as universal health care and Iraq as nothing but screaming and crying of an infantile populace--to be ignored, when they're the one's failing to try and get on the same page as the rest of us to understand our needs.
