I have multiple allergies. When I buy soaps and detergents, I have to buy those that are free and clear, with no dyes or perfumes to irritate my skin.
It hit me just today Im allergic to the current political process. I am irritated by the entire Presidential campaign of business as usual. I want someone who is different, someone who is free and clear. Free of ties to corporations. Free of campaign contributions from special interests. Free of the destructive influence of the mass media. Someone with a clear vision of what is needed to bring our country back to where it belongs, not only in our priorities, but in the eyes of the world.
I know Al Gore has said he has no plans to run. I interpret that as no plans yet. I hear people say that its getting late, but didnt this whole election cycle start way too early?
I believe we are at a tipping point, not just in the climate crisis, but overall. Our Constitution is at risk, our soldiers are dying every day in Iraq, our infrastructure is crumbling, and our governmental institutions have been compromised by the hiring practices of the Bush administration.
We have a President in the White House who has claimed more power for himself than any other President in our history. Whoever is President in 2009 will inherit those powers. Let me ask you this: Of all the candidates running, which one would you trust with that kind of power?
For me, there is only one person who has the ethics, the statesmanship, and the love of humanity necessary to take on that kind of power and not be corrupted by it Al Gore.
I want a planet where I can breathe freely, with a clear head, and a clear conscience. I want a government that I can trust, one that makes me proud, not ashamed. I want fresh air, free of pollution and excessive greenhouse gases. I want a planet that my granddaughters eventual grandchildren can enjoy as much as I have.
This may be a radical concept, but I believe that Al Gore is waiting for us to show him that we understand what he is looking for that if he is to run for President, it must be on our shoulders. We need to show him that we are willing to bypass the usual campaign process. Raising funds for him, so that he doesnt need to accept money from corporations or lobbyists. Communicating here on current.com, outside the mass media.
How else would we get a free and clear President, one who will truly represent we the people? He has shown us the way to get there now all we need to do is show him that we hear what he is saying, and have the courage and heart not to give up.
Quoting from GoracleFan:
Here are some of Al's words from a video back in April, " in an election year, regardless of what party you're in, if you feel strongly you should go and confront these candidates and you should tell them, 'This is important to me, I'm not going away; I want you to make a commitment' and just hound them until they make a commitment..."

I dont want to hound Al Gore, even though those are his words, but I do want to keep pushing, gently - to let him know that we are here, and that we arent going to go away unless and until he tells us outright that it is what he wants. I believe he is looking for us to show a certain level of commitment. This is just my opinion, but I feel he wants to know that if he runs, we will follow through, all the way to the end, whether that end is sweet or bitter.
Im up for the challenge are you?

Me too. Name the place, time and task! I will also commit to be mobilized if they try to postpone elections if requested to by Al.
This is not a case where the candidate loses support when they announce. Just the opposite, there will be a surge that will throw the pundits for a loop!
