A Heartfelt Plea to Vice President Gore to run in 2008

It took a long time for me (although not sure I am entirely) to get past the 2000 election results and how the office of the presidency was stolen from you. I'm just an ordinary citizen so I can't imagine how you and your family felt.
2004 came around - I kept looking for your name but then John Kerry - NO, Edwards (?)
2008 and I'm still holding onto the hope that you will run and claim your rightful place -
Clinton-NO, Obama-NO, Edwards-(?), the others-NO

The only reason you're not the lead nominee is because you haven't declared your bid
to run. The registered voters who voted for you in 2000 are still ready and waiting PLUS all the Democrats, Republicans, and Independents who see the mistake that was made at that point in time. I'm not saying there won't be naysayers but the grassroots support is there and won't the 2000 mistake happen again.

Americans need your wisdom, commitment, family values and the list goes on. our wife, Tipper will make a wonderful First Lady. I think about my grandchildren, as I'm sure you do too - their future is too precarious to let the status quo continue.

I am a registered voter, woman and formerly supported former President Clinton but:
1) Al Gore is my ONLY choice - I don't want to throw my vote away but I won't vote
Clinton or Republican.
2) Future Supreme Court appointments are stake - the current administration has
damaged this branch and rights of US citizens with it's selections.
3) Foreign Policy - we need someone with experience to get confidence in us restored
(look what the current administration did to Colin Powell who is highly respected)
4) I remember a speech Bush gave around June or July of his first year in office and
it sent chills up my spine because I knew he was going to lead us into war by any
means necessary. The current Republican nominees won't change this.
5) Hillary is not meant to the first female president or vice president.
6) Who would really be president (Hillary or the former president?)
7) No more scandals and impeachments - America doesn't this need anymore

I know it's your decision, along with your family, to run. Don't worry about the media and naysayers - the majority of Americans see them for what they are and just ignore them, as I do. If you think you can handle it - I know your family will be there for you.

I think your parents hoped for this destiny for you.

Al Gore, Sr:
http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761553525/Al_Gore.h...
Gore?s father died in December 1998. In his eulogy, the vice president called Albert Gore, Sr., ?the greatest man I ever knew? and credited his father for teaching him a valuable lesson regarding courage, honesty, and political legacy: ?It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.?

Pauline Gore:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/12/15/national/main...
"I think Al is going to be elected ? and you know I hope he is ? and when he is and you need something, just let me know," she told the legislators. "You don't have to fool around with him. Just give me a ring."

I believe in you because I believe you have the wisdom, courage, values and vision to be our next President. A majority of Americans do support in you - please believe in yourself - and let our country at least have hope again. If you run - I predict one of the largest turnouts in American history to rightfully place President Al Gore in office.

Sincerely,

Angela "Angie" Moak

  • Great post and I agree, more and more Americans know the media just spins whatever they want however they want.

Everyone I talk to from old to young knows Al is a straight up honest, hard working, leader and would love to have him as president.

  • Congrats to Al for the Nobel, btw!

  • Thank you for posting this, and I agree with you 110% !!!!

PLEASE PLEASE announce soon, Vice President Gore (or at least let us know that you are seriously thinking about it, or something !) !!!! My nerves cannot take this waiting for much longer!!!!

I have mailed you "my 2 cents", collected 226 signatures to help get your name on one of the state primary ballots, donated $ to various drafgore efforts, and am feeling really desperate !!

Hillary will most likely not be able to win in the general election, is too polarizing, has been 100% wrong on Iraq and other issues, and on top of this, I really don't think that it's good for our democracy at all, to have the SAME TWO FAMILIES in charge of the White House for 28 CONSECUTIVE YEARS !!!

Mr. Gore, you are BY FAR the best candidate, and we need you like never before !! PLEASE RUN !!!!!

  • Everytime I think about Hillary Clinton I remember her VFW speech when she said that we have to pull out of this war to prepare for the next one. That scares the hell out of me. No talk of peace as a possibility? Not my candidate! I hear Kimberlyw and her enthusiasm loud and clear...there are so many of us like her. We don't want a female president just for the sake of having one. We want a leader. The best individual for that job just happens to be a man named Al Gore.

  • This is a very heartfelt plea, poignantly produced and speaks volumes as to why Al Gore needs to be a candidate for the President of the United States in 2008.

    Here is the link: http://draftgore.com/

Please 'Sign The Petition' if you support Al Gore in the 2008 Presidential Election and make your voice heard.

  • I totally agree. I made these two videos that reflect my strong desire to see Gore run for president:

    and

    It's still not too late.

    Run, Al, Run!

  • I'm scared for my country. In my opinion, there are no leaders in the current batch of candidates who have the gravitas and the courage to speak truth to power and stop this adminsitration.

There are no candidates who are willing to speak for WE THE PEOPLE and hold this criminal administration accountable for their crimes.

Al Gore is the only American I trust and will work night and day for and he refues to jump in. Why? Tell us why Al. There are millions of us out here who are ready to give our money, our time and use our mouths, feet and bank accounts for your candidacy. There may be no tomorrow if we don't stop them.

Help us Al, jump into the fire. Thanks for the great site, but we need you to put that team to work on the announcement. By the way, Bobby Kennedy can take over the ACTION and your plans for saving the planet. He is just as capable and determined as you are.

Don't leave us hanging Al. We're not voting for Hillary. Many of us want Obama to be your VP... you can teach him what you know so he can go on to 8 more years. That's what the blogvine is whispering about... actually they may not be whispering. Some of us are begging, shouting and crying.

Al, you'll regret it if you don't take this opporunity to jump in and they bomb Iran and declare martial law. If you have been watching them since they stole the 2000 election, you know that Cheney is liable to do anything, including nukes.

I believe you are the ONLY man who can save the planet and save America. Do it Al ... give up, give in, jump in! Your country needs you.

  • It is interesting because...without Al Gore the little guys will remain biggest losers in the world. America won't be America. I always believed in our Constitution. I didn't believe the the Supreme Court would or could sell out America I will never forget or forgive what took place on Dec.12,2000.
I voted for you as Senator, I voted for you in 2000. Now I want to help elect you as my President ....again!

  • Your youtube videos are so powerful. I'm choked up, afraid to hope yet not able to stop hoping. I too, have a question mark next to Edwards (in my mind) but I only have an exclamation point (!) next to Al Gore.

I want to believe the nightmare this country is in, will end. Somebody just wake me up, please.

Thanks for putting so many feelings that many of us have, into art.

  • Al Gore has sold out. He most deffinitely could have been president--easily. For some of us, it was like Close Encounters of the Third Kind where all those people knew they had to go to Devils Tower. We knew Gore was destined. All the pieces were there. The thought of Gore as our leader gave us hope. Now --complete disappointment, maybe disillusionment as the facts may suggest. So, what happened? Shit happened. My guess is that Al doesn't want to preside over war. We'll be at war for years. It's contrary to his ambition. So, the powers that be told him to step aside, get rich, enjoy his private jet and whatever else comes his way. He's done. It's that or go the way of the Kenedys.
Why have most democrats been wrong? The results of this war will bring profound economic change. As it stands, Al would only be right on his issues, but not the war. The changes will become apparent over the next year. The real question is, "Does the means justifiy the end?
