Well, now you can dream and shoot a bad guy!

What do you think? Is this safe? I think I'm gonna buy one. I don't own a gun or anything but I just think I'd feel safer with this thing on my bed.

  • I can think of at least 7 ways this is completely unsafe and totally not helpful!

Well heck, how can I say no to that?!

  • Based solely on your text description, I have to say this sounds like the plot to the film "Strange Days". (Ralph Fiennes at his best!)

I didn't even watch the clip. I just sat here and remembered my favorite scenes.

  • So...I thought this was a spoof and I was going to say that these would sell like hotcakes if real. They're real, they sell like hotcakes.

    God bless America.

  • Hey tarapoamus, if you can think of 7 ways this is unsafe and not useful, why can't you share your wisdom? Here's a few ways I can think of that this is both safe and useful vs. the alternatives...

    1. Response time is the single greatest factor in self defense situations- how quickly can you get access to an effective means of defense. This rack ensures fast access
    2. This device would ensure the firing end of the rifle is never pointed toward the person sleeping or any direction but the intended one, which could be the case of a handgun placed on a nightstand.
    3. The placement of the weapon would allow movement impaired people to have access to their weapon without leaving their bed, which may not be the case if your gun was under the mattress, as you would have to get up.
    4. Since the rifle is supended as shown between the two mounting points, the arming mechanism and trigger are clearly not as likely to be moved due to friction or accidental bumps, as would be the case if the gun was placed on it's side on a table or under a mattress
Anyway, thanks for the post... I think I am gonna get one of these for my grandma, she has had chase off a burglar with her rifle before, thank god she heard him coming and got to her gun before he got in... god knows what he would have done. She's older and slower now, and the world is more dangerous. She doesn't have little kids in the house, she is a safe gun owner. Why shouldn't she have fast and easy access to the one thing that might save her life AGAIN?

  • Has anyone heard of escalation? If you get a shotgun, the burglar gets a handgun. If you get a bedside death rack, the burglar will jump in the windows Hollywood style and kick your grandmas behind. And were do you think all these guns end up, and what they do to innocent people? http://current.com/items/76356342_wanna_buy_an_ak_47
