The Phuket Vegetarian Festival in Thailand gets bigger and more intense every year. It can be described as a spectacular, even gruesome, religious frenzy based on Chinese Taoist philosophy. Elaborate body piercing, embodying Gods, and fire walking are just a few of the many events that happen at this Festival each Year. This piece was shot in 2006 specifically for Current.TV.

  • I think that the chief issue in many, if not all, of man's issues involving ecology is the false dichotomy between man and nature. Man has not realized that he and everything he has done, does, or will do remains natural. For too long, man has treated his neighbors and his very own environment s if they were enemies. It is sadistic as well as suicidal. Everyone should be Vegan, for many, many reasons. A Vegan can live soundly, satisfied that nothing need die so he or she may live. That's a powerful thought. Since I went Vegan spontaneously about 8 months ago, I haven't had a bad day. It's changed my whole life for the better.
