Hillary Vows to Review Executive Powers if Elected

In an interview with The Guardian, Hillary Clinton lashes out at the power grab of the Bush administration, stating that, if elected, she will review "everything they've done." Clinton says she will "absolutely" consider giving up any executive powers in the name of constitutional principle. She also discusses the election, Iraq, and the global war against Al-Qaeda.

One can only hope this is true. Considering her past history of crass opportunism (i.e. Iraq war vote) I am doubtful.

  • She's not an Oil guzzler
Let's hope she [does] consider this when in power

  • "Absolutely consider" ??!!
Are you freakin' kidding me? That's like saying, "Absolutely perhaps."
God, I hope Al Gore jumps in to save the day.

  • From the interview:

Q: I guess I'm asking, can a president, once in the White House, actually give up some of this power in the name of constitutional principle?

Hillary: Oh, absolutely, Michael. I mean that has to be part of the review that I undertake when I get to the White House, and I intend to do that.

  • Power=Money

I doubt any politician will give up potential campaign funding... especially Ms. Clinton.

To state that she "intends" to "review" this power grab is not saying she will "do" anything. It is simply garden variety lip service. Review and intend away Ms. Clinton, at the end of the day I am confident you will do nothing about this degradation to our constitution and the checks and balances in our government.

I am still looking for a candidate who will say what they mean, and mean what they say.

  • How big of her to "absolutely" consider giving up any executive powers in the name of constitutional principle. Hillary is a Republican. Her husband gave the world NAFTA. The Corporate media is pushing her. Anyone BUT Hillary!

  • I don't know. What are we expecting? What should she have said instead? She said that she would absolutely give up unconstitutional powers. Don't you think DIPLOMACY is an important trait for the leader of this country? She is not currently in a position to say exactly what she will or won't change. She is not fully informed...HELLO!!! I'm starting to think that our cynicism and low expectations fuel the corruption and lack of moral achievement in our leaders.

  • The word that gives us concern is "Consider." She is absolutely in a position to state what she will or will not do. If she won't make it clear what her intentions are why vote for her? The dishonesty in government comes in the door when they won't give us a clear answer. It has nothing to do with diplomacy it is called evasion. I've had more than enough of that from Bush.

  • Jack took some liberties in the way he "quoted" her in the first comment. When we're attacking the way someone phrases an answer, it's important to deal in facts. What was actually said? " Q: I guess I'm asking, can a president, once in the White House, actually give up some of this power in the name of constitutional principle? Hillary: Oh, absolutely, Michael. I mean that has to be part of the review that I undertake when I get to the White House, and I intend to do that. " Now, Hillary does have a way of getting around questions, but I don't see this as necessarily being one of those times. I don't think anyone really knows how bad of a mess this administration has created, so it's prudent of her to say she will "absolutely" review the status of presidential power. I'm sick of politics as usual too, hence my comment on our cynisim making matters worse. I think we should expect more from our politicians, and let them fall further when they fail us.

  • You're about to witness the First Women President of the U.S. who will without doubt bring home the troops and stop the robbing of the treasury, but re-do all the injustices of the corrupt Adm.

Watch the next eight years go down in history as the most important and best presidency in our history.

Two presidents in the WH are far better than the half a head we now have.

  • silvwehawk99, I don't think so, and hope not. She is too Republican for me.
