  • Can ya'll imagine what we could have done constructively with all that money???? It's almost unimaginable. Healthcare, job security, infrastructure, etc., etc. You know how much peace could be bought with that much money??? How about New Orleans??

First of all, the U.S. put "So Damn Insane" in power in the first place to keep the Shia (Iran) in check, which he did quite well. And of course I didn't necessarily approve of his methods and it's overflow, but-t-t, the overwhelming number of people could walk the streets and actually had a good economy and life. Of course some groups did suffer horrendously, but that could have been handled over time lots differently.

Then, we go in there and take him out without any thought as to how fast and hard the Shia would fill in the gap and now there's a problem a hundred times greater than there was before. Maybe that was the plan to begin with. War is very profitable for the chosen few!!! Just proclaim patriotism and wave the flag and belittle the peace lovers. Loving peace doesn't mean being a wimp!!!!

I personally think Lil W and his entire band of cohorts (possibly the real Axis of Evil) should have every last dollar of their personal assets seized and divided up amongst all the families of all the people they are responsible for killing and maiming. And put them all in jail for war crimes. I can assure you that if the Democrats would have caused this mess, and the Republicans would have taken control, they would have been willing to spend ten times more than the war cost to prosecute the Dems.

America is responsible for this mess, so the honorable, however distasteful, thing for us to do is help straighten it up. But people in other countries have to realize that if their government is intent on hurting us, then they are susceptible to facing dire consequences, religion or no religion. And we have the means to take care of business without endangering so many of our own people. Governments come to power because their people allow it. And that goes for us too, sorry to say.

  • Just an after thought - 2.4 Trillion????

We could have given 24,000,000 people in this country each $100,000. That they would have spent at the grocery store, the car dealer, on a house, better medical care, etc. And the people that sold all those goods would have turned around and respent the money and on and on.

That would have been 480 thousand people in every state in the union receiving 100 thousand dollars. And most of it would have stayed in this country.

But instead, a very small group of people (if you want to call them that) are going to ultimately make off with half of the total and no telling where their loyalties lie.

How many people we have in this country???
240 million people could have each received $10,000. And we'd have about what, 10,000 more soldiers than we now have, able to defend us and New Orleans and all of south Louisiana and Mississippi could have had their National Guard for our storms to help evacuate and secure us.

And now Lil W is vetoing everything the Dems want a few dollars for that would help out ALL of our people?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I'm flabbergasted!!!!!

  • Approved or Declined?
Last week 89 house members declined further military funding in Iraq; will they they stick to this?

  • Looks like that Iraq oil Dubya wants is getting real expensive!
  • Evening Costello

    WHO KNOWS?!?!?!?!?!?

One party is full of thieves and the other has a few thieves, a few illiterates, some truly dedicated to helping all of us, a few drunks, some spineless wonders, etc. I much prefer the later. With the former, you know you are going to get it where it hurts, to the fullest extent possible, every time.

  • Military Losses, 1980 thru 2007
    http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/natsec/RL32492.pdf)

As tragic as the loss of any member of the US Armed Forces is, consider the following statistics:

The annual fatalities of military members while actively serving in the armed forces from 1980 through 2006:

    1980 ......... 2,392 (Carter Year)

    1981 .......... 2,380 (Reagan Year)
    1984 .......... 1,999 (Reagan Year
    1988 .......... 1,819 (Reagan Year)

    1989 .......... 1,636 (George H W Year)
    1990 .......... 1,508 (George H W Year)
    1991 .......... 1,787 (George H W Year)
    1992 .......... 1,293 (George H W Year)

    1993 .......... 1,213 (Clinton Year)
    1994 .......... 1,075 (Clinton Year)
    1995 .......... 2,465 (Clinton Year)
    1996 .......... 2,318 (Clinton Year)
    1997 ............. 817 (Clinton Year)
    1998 .......... 2,252 (Clinton Year)
    1999 .......... 1,984 (Clinton Year)
    2000 .......... 1,983 (Clinton Year)

    Clinton years (1993-2000): 14,000 deaths

    2001 ............. 890 (George W Year)
    2002 .......... 1,007 (George W Year)
    2003 .......... 1,410 (George W Year)
    2004 .......... 1,887 (George W Year)
    2005 ............. 919 (George W Year)
    2006.............. 920 (George W Year)
    2007.............. 899 (George W Year)

    George W years (2001-2006): 7,932 deaths

These figures mean that the loss from the two latest conflicts in the Middle East are LESS than the loss of military personnel during Bill Clinton's presidency; when America wasn't even involved in a war!

    Race in general population:
    European descent (White) ............... 69.12%
    Hispanic ............................................ 12.5%
    Black ................................................. 12.3%
    Asian ................................................... 3.7%
    Native American .................................. 1.0%
    Other .................................................. 2.6%

Now... here are the fatalities by Race; over the past three years in Iraqi Freedom:
    European descent (white) ................ 74.31%
    Hispanic ........................................... 10.74%
    Black ................................................ 9.67%
    Asian ................................................. 1.81%
    Native American ................................ 1.09%
    Other ................................................ 0.33%

(These statistics are published by Congressional Research Service, and they may be confirmed by anyone at:

  • UTHookEmHorns obviously is trying to fool you people with his phony figures.
Maybe I'm mistaken, but I went to the page where it actually lists the totals and his figures are seriously inflated.
    1993 -2007 figures are actually - 1213, 1075, 1040, 974, 817, 827, 796, 758. Which equals 7500 total, not 14,000, where ever he got that from.
Furthermore, the chart shows a total of 8792, 2001-2006, which doesn't even include 2007.

    What gives, UT????? Republican roots????

    Shame on you.

Under Lil W's watch 1292 + all those in the last 15 months, more than the total for Clinton's 8 years.
    ObiaMan
  • AND furthermore,
UT left out 5 years of Reagan years that had an additional 10,000 or so.
AND he understated Lil W's figures by 860 + those in 2007 and 2008.

Just goes to show you - you can't believe everything someone "quotes" to you. You always have to look at the source.
    ObiaMan
  • ObiaMan,

Actually, no, I'm not a Republican.

And thank you for proving my point. You're one of the few that caught it.

Don't just believe anything and everything you hear, see, and/or posted in/on any form of media. Even if you think it helps your cause(s). ALWAYS RESEARCH AND VERIFY EVERYTHING VERY, VERY CLOSELY.

I even helped you this time by giving you some of the research material.

This posting was from an email going around. And many would have just believed it without any research. Especially if it came from a friend, family member, or organization with similar views as the reader.

By the way ObiaMan, I'm a Conservative that believes in the War on Terror. Even the terror of our own government. But I'm still very proud to be an American. I just wish my fellow Americans would open their eyes and see the bigger picture.
