The non-profit group Invisible Children started a movement to bring awareness to the situation occurring in Uganda. They started off by just going to Africa and looking for a story and stumbled upon this tragedy. This article is important to their cause because it shows a step in the right direction and the fact that the rest of the world is beginning to pay attention!

    This is an important issue. What do you think that we can do to get people to start paying attention?

  • I think Invisible Children offers a great way for individuals , schools and organizations to come together for this cause. As far as students go I think using a film and showing it to them in school or on campus is a great way to grab their attention. It's also their peers that are presenting the information, which is always great. So, I think people should try to get Invisible Children to come to school in their neighborhoods or on their college campuses. I know when they came to BU I told everyone I knew to go see it and they did! I also went to the Displace Me protest and brought along my mom, my sister and her boyfriend and my boyfriend. They had never heard of it before, but were totally willing to join in. I think it's also important to right to politicians about the issue to get awareness on that level as well.

  • I saw a video in class about the invisible children and it really touched my heart. so many people fail to see and acknowledge tragedies in other parts of the world. I always hear people complaining about poverty and all other things, but when i saw what was going on in Uganda i really saw poverty. I could never imagine my child being taken from his bed in the middle of the night and thrown into a war. Its sad. It made me want to more. I began ordering things from the website like their t-shirt and braceletts, i began searching the web to find out ways i could get involved. I wanted to know everthing about the organazation and the children
