From a scientific viewpoint

I predict that it will be found that one or more chemical changes which occur while an infant is in the womb are the cause of a male person's being gay. There may be genetic changes, also, and a group in Chicago is studying that right now. However, I think it is much more likely that changes in utero are the cause/s. (I have a scientific background, as I am a hospital pharmacist.)

EVIDENCE SO FAR:
A piece on 60 minutes presented a study in which it was determined that subsequent sons born after the first son are more likely to be gay--not all of them, but a random number.
A son came to his mother in his early high school years to say: "All the guys were going crazy over girls, and I waited for it to happen to me. It didn't." I know these people.

I hope that, when this is finally "discovered," it will become easier for gay men to become accepted as "just another type of human being," with all the rights of any other human being.

There has been much pain in this population and in their parents. I know that we will always have bigots, but scientific results, reproducible by other scientific groups, should help this situation. And--eventually, the "John Wayne" tough guy bigots, and the religious uncompassionate people will die off, or be "converted" to a better understanding.

Although I can see where soclal coditioning could play a part in any person's being gay, I don't believe that this is a prominent reason so many people are.

    Gay, that is.

People are genetically disposed to be gay, as are a host of other animals. I personally have had a gay dog, and homesexuality is a prominent feature of all mammalian life! Almost no one would "choose" to be gay- it just happens.
