  • I agree with everything you said. As a white kid from the suburbs just now becoming a man in the world I am trying my best to open my heart and mind to all those who didn't have the opportunities I did and to reach out to those in need.

I think something else we saw in the Katrina incident was that the American people aren't short of heart, it really seems to me that we fell asleep at the wheel and let these clowns in office (and not just the republicans) take control of our country. I would love to see poor black communities get out and have their voices heard in the upcoming election, maybe then we can get somebody in office that actually cares about them!

  • I'm with you. There needs to be empathy instead of apathy. The white majority likes to pretend that race has nothing to do with poverty at all. People need to look at the truth of discrimination and take initiative to recognize and understand whats going on, there's not really a legal barrier(that I know of), but there is a deep psychological aspect being ignored to maintain persona. It may not even be a real race issue, I'd say it's a class issue. But the minorities that have started at the bottom can't all make it to the middle or top. The gap between rich and poor has been growing and growing and the anomie is too great to be ignored.

I realize that was a bit scatterbrained, I hope you could follow it.

  • The planet desperately needs global unification. Awareness, consideration, respect - not just for everyone but for everything. If we really are the most intelligent organism for hundreds of thousands of miles, than I would like to hope that ALL of US will one day act like it. Racism, hunger, poverty, injustice, pollution. These are just some of the things that I wish could disappear. However, the smallest and most greedy percentage of the population who crave more money and power continue to hold the rest of the world back. Who am I to say what's right or wrong? Who knows...All I know is my ancestors used the phrase "We are all related" at the beginning and end of their prayers and I agree with them.
  • what was this abput exactly ????
