- London Ramadan (1)
n 'London Ramadan' we follow Haidar, a young British Iraqi, on an exciting journey, as he completes the 30 days of fasting from sunrise to sunset that makes up Ramadan. You will see him as Ramadan ends with Eid the day of feasting and celebration. We follow him from prayer in the morning, to a feast with his family, to the huge parties that hit the Edgware Road in the evening. We will hear his family talk of how they risked everything to achieve their British dream - with Haidar's father escaping the notorious Abu Ghraib prison under Saddam Hussein to get his family to safety.
As night hits, young people head to the Edgware Road to let off steam after a month of pent up self-denial. The streets are vibrantly colorful, full of young British Muslims dressed to impress. Afghan flags fly in the streets, as honking Ferraris drive past celebrating crowds and spontaneous singing and dancing breaks out.
By the end of watching this film, you will have been on a journey from fast to feast and have a better idea of what it feels like and means to be a young British Muslim in 21st century London. The film demystifies a key part of Islam and tells a story, with warmth and humor, of unity and togetherness, of faith, family and friendship.
