Red Sox Sweep the Series!

I've suffered through years of frustration as a Boston fan. Since I was a kid, you name the team, and I've just about lived and died by how they've done. Now, the Sox have swept their second World Series in four seasons and the Patriots are this century's NFL dynasty. Yeah, sure, it's been a short century...let me have my fun. Now, if the Bruins could only find their next Bobby Orr, or the Celts could find their next Larry Bird, I think I could finally let it all go.

  • Yeah that's a nice win but do you think your the only sports fan where the local team hasn't won a championship in a long while. Try livinig in KC- Chiefs won in 1970, Royals in 1985, KU basketball in 1988. The Bambino Curse, if there is such a one, has shifted to the midwest. So stop crying in your milk or your lager of beer and enjoy the moment that your team are world champions. By the way the next Larry Bird is Paul Pierce.

  • You're right, khoran6! So many years of misery have left me unable to believe it's anything more than a dream. I definitely need to enjoy this more. Maybe even get stupid and talk a little smack with my wife (mixed marriage...she grew up down the street from Yankee Stadium).

    Tell you what, though, show me a Sox fan who isn't reacting with the same wariness, and I'll bet you it's someone who wasn't mentally destroyed after the '86 collapse against the Mets.
