I agree with what you said at the beginning but the bit about making sure your child will not be exposed to any religion creeped me out a little. Please clarify.

Good point! I don't want my kid being a religious zealot either.
-
I live in Utah in High School here you can elect to go to a church seminary for 1 of your classes. Oh wait thats only if you are mormon all other religions have to take regular classes.
I think you shouldnt be exposed to religion until you hit the age of 21 then when you hear.. a evil snake tempted that whore Eve into eating the apple and now we are all born sinners and going straight to hell story you laugh your ass off and say....WTF? -
@redrum
"that whore Eve"
Whore??? -
re-learnnot exposing your kid to religion?
not allowing prayer into school?
sounds like extreme censorship to me.
religion, prayer, meditation in all its forms has been a huge part of every society in history.
is your proposal to decide universal truth for the next generation? cool...good idea....seriously....even though I disagree on this issue...i'm all about the propaganda
but i guess ...by your standards, science and english are subjects worthy of teaching kids.
sounds like a pretty "religious" viewpoint to me.
i think the only subjects taught in school should be the arts, history (religion / prayer option included) PhysEd, health, practical math only (anything beyond algebra to be reserved for the geeks) ...female anatomy, finance, politics, rock/hip hip hop philosophy, and dog/owner / stunt driving lessons..........and magic -
Totally Agree!
Listen, if they push prayer in school I'm developing a church of the naked butts that requires three daily prayers of striping off your clothes, bending over and farting loudly into a jar. I'll demand a special room at every school. -
Do any of you even know what you are talking about? What is so wrong with leaving a couple of minutes in the beginning the day for prayer. Sounds to me like you have all researched the religions where prayer is like a chore and it is what pleases some god. Prayer is a form of communication with God. Doing will have no effect on anybody else.
God Bless

you're totally wrong. If a student wants to pray at school, it's completely their right. "if you want to get down on your hands and knees and beg for mercy at home, that's your perogative, but don't bring it into schools." As much as fellow liberals must love your sarcasm and wit, it's just disrepectful to say something like this. prayer is not about begging for mercy and you are a foolish, sad litttle woman for saying so. if a muslim, christian, hindu, jewish, buddhist, taoist, confuscian, sikh, or ANY OTHER student of faith wants to pray before lunch or before a hard test or for any other reason, that is their right and how you could disagree with that is beyond me. It's funny to hear a liberal talking like the moral police. so if a student is caught praying to themselves before their lunch in the cafeteria, you want some school official to jump in and say "hey, hey stop that. you can't do that here."? Ha, disturbing. Unfortuntely for you, there's this this little thing in the US Constitution known as "free speech", and your theory of not allowing prayer even on school grounds is pretty much sunk. to someone of faith, prayer is a DEEPLY personal and important thing. No one is proposing a "prayer class", pushing prayer on others, or saying a prayer over the loudspeakers, so just relax, stop finding things to complain about, and try to put an end to the hobby that you and many other people in this nation seem to have regarding the US Constitution, which is not reading it, its one of those important documents.

I'm loving you right now. Stright to the point it's perfect.
-
what are you so worried about?
people always wanna stand out and be different
"be themselves"
what if your religion is who you are
what if that defines you
i think kids should learn about all the different religions
even in school
prayer should be allowed but not recommended
how come its okay for a woman to murder her unborn baby
but she's not allowed to pray at school
shut the fuck up and let my people pray-
