In partnership with the Echo Park Film Center, we would like to invite you to an exclusive screening and networking event where Current TV creative executives and veteran filmmakers will be on hand to take questions, listen to your ideas and provide feedback. Well screen examples of our programming and talk about how you can get involved in making content for our channel.
Current TV is about what's going on: stories from the real world, told by you. Now is the time to pick up a camera, jump in, and participate in an expanding global dialogue! We slice our schedule into short segments "pods" each just a few minutes long. You'll see profiles of interesting people on the rise, intelligence on trends as they spring up around us, and international news from new perspectives. And much of it comes straight from our viewers, through our VC2 (viewer created content) programming.

Hi conditionedgoods-- you will never pitch ideas willy-nilly at any current tv workshop. only to creative executives. as for movies... not sure. ;)
-
ConditionedGoods, that is a very valid concern--when you're dealing in mainstream media--however the truth of the matter is at Current we really want you to make your pitch rather than us, so we would do anything and everything in our power to help you with your idea rather than steal it [which if you know how VC2 works we couldn't steal it anyways since our producers are all external!]

You guys could not have picked a better location for this event. I hold a great deal of respect for Paolo and Lisa and all the great work they have done for the kids and the community at large.
-
mcamargo-- so do we! Paolo and Lisa have been hard at work supporting the community for years. we're thrilled to be involved with them.
-
you are totally right in being wary, i think. i've worked in ho'wood long enough to see a few choice ideas of my own purloined. sigh. BUT i give you my word of honour - as a total stranger - that we are not like that.
strong pitch. :)
-
Pls more details on what exactly will go down Sat.? Who's speaking, who's showing up, what you'll talk about, what you want to hear from producers, etc. If I've heard the Current schpiel before, what will be new (and worth devoting a Sat. night to)?
'Kthxbye. -
The event will be part VC2 screening-- with directors in person-- and part info session/meet and greet.

Do citizens respond when they hear a car alarm go off? These three girls sure do.If y'all are self-conscious about pitching you can take the opportunity to meet our staff and email us pitches after, when you feel comfortable sharing your ideas. After all, the best way to keep others from stealing your ideas is to execute them ASAP-- and Current is there to help you.

No offense -- if I were the person with the money and gear, I'd choose premise and storyline over passion any day. Sorry, I'm old school that way.
So how's about you cash in daddy's Lear jet and buy me a camera?
