It is torture and so we cannot condone it and remain a decent and exemplary nation in this world.
-
Torture never benefits our country. You can't defend our country by abandoning our core principals.

Did you see the the op/ed piece by Mona Charen which was published in my local paper today (11/4)? It is discouraging to see the right wingers try to justify the crimes of the Bush Administration instead of working to reach a consensus on what our principles are supposed to be.

"It's well, kinda, like, you know -- a little inhumane. But if it supports, like, you know, "our side" then I guess I'm for it."
Remember that the next time you see an American worker, reporter, or soldier captured, killed, held hostage, or even tortured by anyone else. Why?
Because when we torture, in violation of international treaties that we RATIFIED, we lose our moral highground, and we lose our right to be outraged when others do it -- even to us. In fact, it invites violence on Americans in dangerous parts of the world. -
After listening to your comments on water boarding I felt a little sick. Just how out of touch are the youth of today?
To not understand the impact of torture on a nation tells me you totally slept through your history classes. What a shame. Tell me, do you know who our president is? -
you shouldn't have even bothered making this if you didn't have anything good or interesting to say. Great job though.
-
Are you sure? It sounded like you wasnt too sure of your statement.

Put it this way, it doesn't "benefit America" to be using the techniques our enemies use, it makes us look like assholes.
-
this guy's just a freaking idiot. hands down.
-
Awesome. It's totally right because it's America.(...?) Y'know, because this country is heaven-sent. The war... torture.... healthcare.... plus, we're really helping with preventing global warming!! HOW STUPID ARE YOU?!

I agree with your viewpoint on waterboarding because if there only using it on terrorist then I believe its fine. If using that technique to save hundreds or even a few soldiers lives I believe it is for the best. The effects are minimum to the person that is being tortured, so it’s not like your killing a person to find out information.

I disagree with your post about waterboarding because it is torture. It goes against the core democratic value of equality because not every person who gets interrogated gets waterboarded. Everyone has the right to the same treatment, so if everyone doesn’t get it nobody should get it.

I agree with your post about waterboarding . The reason I agree is that it is inhumane but if it is necessary to use that we should go ahead and use it. But we should only use it if it benefits the United States.

Because it’s wrong what their doing to those people I really hate that you would agree with what they were doing...Yeah the did something terrible but there are other ways to go instead of torturing them yeah they might not talk but you don’t have to get physical they well end up talking sooner or later…”-
