The first evidence was the bombs themselves, packed into a pair of suitcases and left on two passenger trains in northwest Germany.
Because of a technical flaw, they never exploded, but not for lack of planning. The laptop of one of the suspects in last year's bungled bombings contained plans, sketches and maps -- a virtual road map to an attack that could have killed dozens.

Um...For all we know, this is already happening, right here in the good old U. S. of A.
Who else is worried that it appears we are ahead of Germany in the spying-on-our-own-poeple front? -
It all starts with a little threat... The Terrorists are coming to get you, Barbara (sorry, couldn't help the Night of the Living Dead reference on Halloween) Then the government magnanimously offers to catch the bad guys... you just need to give up a little in return. Just a little freedom, that's all. "Are you gonna give us our freedom back when this is over?" we ask. "You know, we don't forsee an end to this crisis. Don't worry, we're gonna protect you... Can I see your hard drive?" NO NO NO A THOUSAND TIMES NO! When are we going to wake up and tell them to STOP taking our civil liberites away? I hope Germans will reject this "Stasi 2.0" as they're calling it. It is wrong.
