With two seconds left in the fourth quarter Trinity University trailed Millsaps College by four points. They needed a miracle 61-yard play and that is exactly what they got. Now known as the Miracle in Mississippi, this 15-lateral Hail Mary has become an instant sports Classic.

  • This is why pro sports suck. This could never happen.

  • Only reason it wouldn't ever happen in pro sports is: A) No balls to try something outside the 'box', plays in the NFL are like chess moves... very little originality, and B) Pro players are very specialized into thier possitions, and as such their bodies are not as generically fit as college or highschool players are. The key I think, to that play was that everyone knew that they could take the ball and toss it to any other player and have a chance to run it. Can't imagine a QB thinking his RT would be able to run it behind him with a WR putting down the blocks...

    Bah, I'm long winded... that was a flip'n awsome play.

    Almost as incredible as The Play
    but it didn't end with a Stanfurd Tuba player becoming a human exclamation point at the end.
