My vote- No, the fur being vintage does not wipe the slate clean. The problem with fur in general is that innocent animals were slaughtered to make a fashion statement, it doesn't matter when it occurred.
That being said new fur coats are even more heinous, as we are learning more and more about our massive negative impact on the other beings with whom we share this planet, not to mention our impact on the planet as a whole.
Fur for fashion is beyond unnecessary, regardless of when it occurred- yesterday or 50 years ago.

Fur is natural at least. Fake fur is even worse in my opinion. All those man-made fabrics and chemicals, yuk!

If we want the fashion world to be more eco friendly.... one could argue that using fur is a good substitute to the use of man-made fabrics and chemicals containing heavy metals that are extremely damaging to the enviroment. Wouldn't using fur to clothe us comfortably and to keep us warm be the same as farming cattle to use as food or hens for their eggs?
