House Passes Bill on "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism"
In news from Capitol Hill, The House of Representatives has passed the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act by a 404 to six vote. The bill creates a National Commission on the Prevention of Violent Radicalization and Ideologically Based Violence. Some critics have criticized the broad language used in the bill to describe homegrown terrorism. Under the bill any person that uses or plans to use force to advance political or social objectives would be considered a terrorist. One prominent critic of the bill has been the academic and author Ward Churchill.
* Ward Churchill: "HR 1955, as I understand it, provides a basis for subjective interpretation of dissident speech that allows those in power to criminally penalize anything they considered to be particularly effective in terms of galvanizing an opposition that might conceivably in some sense disrupt or destabilized the status quo, so it's to keep everything in that nice sanitized arena that I was just talking about where you're actually a collateral functionary of the state by participating.
*********************************************************************************
They have used up the fear card. We are well aware that the true terrorists are those who have had the nerve to position themselves as representatives "of the people" in this country.
The lie is out and getting very very old and tired.
As long as we still have political prisoners that sit behind bars for crimes they did not commit, we will have a blatant reminder of the real terrorism that goes on in this country. But bills like these are for the perpetrators of real terrorist acts, its for those who respond to them.
Don't get it twisted.

HR 1995Read the entire bill at the Library of Congress. Search bills for "Homegrown terrorism". The bill explicitly explains how it is only for "violent acts". Now that leaves it open to interpretation as to what violence is, I guess. It does put us in a position where we cannot overthrow the government using violent actions, as that is already considered treason. This bill also infringes on our 1st amendment right, under freedom of expression.

The last one out has to turn off the lights ( you'll find the switch just under Lady Liberty's Torch).

Rob, That's what I think too. They built some big detention centers in Texas supposedly to house the illegal aliens no one ever gathers up. I thought when I first read about them, that's not for them, they are for us. Blackwater and others have a Homeland Security contract to patrol the border. I guess until they are needed to patrol any demonstration. This is getting scary.

Yes, Rob we are. They have been working on this for thirty years or more and they have been implementing it since the last Bush. It is sneaking up on us and we have no news media to warn us or people would be in the streets. By the time they are aware what has happened all their plans will be in place and it will be too late. You are right about serious trouble. They will not go quietly.

I'm beginning to think we should make our representatives take an IQ test. Maybe they should each have an attorney to read the bills and explain it to them before they vote. I'm dead serious we are sending stupid people to Washington. I don't know how many more mistakes we can take before it all comes crashing down on our heads.

I wonder if giving Hillary a raspberry is considered Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism? Would I end up in Abu Ghraib?

We the people need to go to Washington and get rid of all the old representatives because they dont respect the people or our Constitution.

This bill passed in a LAND SLIDE because the speaker pushed it through with special legislation that didn't require a debate on this bill. The bill is now S1959 and is going to the floor of the senate this week. TELL YOUR SENATORS TO VOTE NO!.. This is one more nail in the coffin the people in charge are sealing up our constitution and barrying it. Consider yourselves all enemy combatants if this passes. Indefinate detention + torture anyone?! God bless America.

It's the beginning of the end people... The military commissions act of 2006 and the "patriot" act have already bound us as US citizens and taken our rights and freedoms away from us. MCA2006 does away with habeas corpus all together, the patriot act well... I don't think I need to tell ya how much of a corruption that "bill" has become... warrant less search and seizures and monitoring on the us whenever they want.. welcome to the new world order people.. just like bushies daddy called it in his speech.. our only hope this deep in is to get Ron Paul in office. No more options.
