  • ACCESS Charity
As a high school student, I visited the Dominican Republic on an exposure trip - learned all about this interesting part of the economy... ACCESS is a charity I started to help these kids get an education!
  • Wow, this is a good pod. I had no idea the major leagues recruited like this, but I'm not surprised. It would be great if this was shown during a major league game or something. I wonder what those fans would think.

  • too bad huge corporations like the Yankees don't spend as much money setting up schools and promoting the value of education in this country. Only about 1 of every 10,000 kids playing baseball has a legitimate chance of making the big leagues, and once the Yankees have used them up or seen that they are not a legitimate shot, they turn them back out onto the streets.

Education is a much better investment, but these kids don't dream about getting an education because no one celebrates the educated. They only celebrate the wealthy. That's a waste and the real story.

  • I'm from Dominican Republic and we really apreciate what the MLB teams are doing in our country because those kids have now the oportunities to improve not only as a player (helping some of them to became millionares) but as a person learning new skill like speaking english, off course they receive "young unexpensive player" who help them to win game and money, I think is a fair trade.

  • Wonderful slant on MLB, where the talent comes from, and how to follow the "American Dream". Wonderful insights, not found anywhere else. Kaj may be the best investigative journalist working today.
