  • I'm all for water-boarding and any other way of torturing these Islamic pukes who want to destroy our country and our way of life. I love my children, I'm guessing you don't love yours if you're not in favor of doing anything within our power to stop these maniacs. I don't know why you are worried about the "rights" of these morons who are bent on our destruction, and your song hit the nail on the head "LET'S KEEP AMERICA NUMBER ONE" ALWAYS, HIPPY!

  • I love my country, my children and grandchildren. The USA I know does not need to resort to torture. The info we receive is not reliable. It takes real intelligence to get valuable information. (Perhaps if you were smarter you would not feel the need to endorse torture.) We are a nation of principles, and those principles need to apply to EVERYONE or they mean NOTHING!

  • You question my intelligence, yet you can't even spell "nothing?" I support torture because in my opinion, torture is what people who seek to kill innocent people deserve whether we actually get any information out of them or not. We should torture them based on the sheer fact that they want to heartlessly murder our own innocent citizens in cold blood; if they have no respect for human life, they should get shown none in return. I have absolutely no concern for the so called "rights" of scumbags who want to kill me and my family, as well as other innocent hard working people, and furthermore, no one else in their right mind should either.

  • Check out the Kaj's Uncut Waterboarding piece

  • Understand that many are tortured who are not interested in killing you or your family. Not everyone picked up is guilty. That is why courts were developed, and why they are something we have long defended as part of the "American Way."

  • I sometimes wonder if we will look back at this time in US history and compare it to the insanity of McCarthyism?? ....or to the barbarism of the Spanish inquisition? When we rationalize such brutality!

  • Any body who thinks that giving the government the go ahead for torture like water boarding is not aware that these types of violations to basic humans rights are happening all the time and if we don't stand up and say they are wrong, we may be next.
This country could be the greatest, or it could be the meanest, and most imperialistic. Force is not the way to gain respect, fear does not win us allies
You can drape the flag over your head and not pay attention to the sickness in the USA but it won't help your children in the future, it will hurt them.

  • Kevdog, you make me sick...You've bought into every lie of this illegal & immoral administration and can do nothing but spout their jingoistic rhetoric as justification for your abhorrant views.Torture is not wrong because someone else thinks it is wrong or because others, in retaliation for torture by Americans, may torture Americans. It is the torture that is wrong. Torture is wrong because it inflicts unspeakable pain upon the body of a fellow human being who is entirely at our mercy. The tortured person is bound and helpless. The torturer stands over him with his instruments. There is no question of "unilateral disarmament," because the victim bears no arms, lacking even the use of the two arms he was born with. The inequality is total. To abuse or kill a person in such a circumstance is as radical a denial of common humanity as is possible. It is repugnant to learn that one's country's military forces are engaging in torture. It is worse to learn that the torture is widespread. It is worse still to learn that the torture was rationalized and sanctioned in long memorandums written by people at the highest level of the government. And as for punishment, that used to be decided in a court of law in this country.
And as Chacawila pointed out, innocent people are tortured as well. Surely you've heard of Maher Arar.If not, check out his story here http://www.maherarar.ca/
This is a man whose life was ruined by the American government's involvement with torture. Maybe if you put a real live human face to the issue you will understand the implications. And this is just ONE example of potentially thousands of people who have gone through this. Maybe you should try waterboarding like Kaj Larsen did in his video for Current and see if you still hold the same knee-jerk reaction views afterwards.

  • Heartening to hear from more of you. At times the sinking feeling in my stomach is unnerving these days. Thanks for speaking up!
