Foie Gras is a delicacy derived from the livers of force-fed ducks and geese. The substance has just been banned in Chicago and Joe is on the scene to dissect the issue.

I loved your piece. I love Foie Gras, but I do believe it is inhumane.

I LOVE TORTURE. It tastes GREAT! Hey Joe I''m a fan of your stuff but this time you''re crossing the line into "serious journalism", but unfortunately you didn''t do enough research. Have YOU ever been to a foie gras farm? -Kenric

so the guy passing the actual laws doesn''t have to visit a foie gras farm, but the guy making a goofy video about it does?

I've heard mixed things about the force feeding involved with foie gras, but if it is indeed inhumane, shouldn't we also be banning all of the other inhumane practices toward animals? This seems to only be happening because there are fewer people who will be angry about it--most people don't even seem to know what foie gras is.

That pissed me off so much.

That guy was probably right. Most people think that animal cruelty is fine, so long as it doesn't happen before their eyes or to a potential slave (pet). That speaks more about those people's empathy and compassion than it does about the issue. Besides, even if 66 trillion people say a stupid thing, it's still a stupid thing.

That chef was a Grade A jerk. This is not an issue of personal choice. Any person who feels that the life of another sentient being is a matter of personal choice has earned my contempt.

The host guy pissed me off too. This is no more about opinion as American slavery. I bet the abolishionists were accused of forcing their opinions on others about ending slavery.

Regardless, if telling people why they shouldn't be cruel causes them discomfort, so be it. I'm more concerned about the animals' lives than "respecting" people's so called right to murder without penalty.

Why would you [xALTRUISTx] have contempt for people who enjoy eating meat? Or for someone who showed stances on both sides of the issue and than put in his own opinion?

Personal choice is a right that I enjoy. Maybe I will never eat Foie Gras in my life, but at least I will have the option to do so.

....Why do I have contempt for people who insist on perpetuating the enslavement and slaughter of billions annually. Gee, I don't know. Maybe I'M the jerk here. I shjould just let people ingest their slaughter beasts in peace. I'm so insensitive. He hardly showed both sides, and he made his stance quite clear. He criticized PETA for infringing on peoples' "personal" choice. He ATE foie gras. He was anything but objective. Did you even watch it? The thing about this personal choice argument...Umm...IT'S NOT A MATTER OF PERSONAL CHOICE. Must be hard to make a choice of what to eat for lunch, when that choice determines whether something lives or dies. That's not opinion. That's murder. I doubt you'll understand at this point, so I'll change the perspective. You don't think the slave owners thought that the abolishionists were infringing on their right to "personal" choice? Hmm...I guess that's nothing like what you're doing.

Deciding whether or not to eat meat has nothing to do with slavery or murder.

You just keep eating your tofu and vegetables and I will continue eating my juicy prime rib and tender steaks.

And yes, I did watch the video. If you don't think Joe was fair on showing both sides of the issue, make your own pod on why eating meat is "murder".

...Nothing to do with morder or slavery? I suppose meat grows on trees...or...Maybe...the animal just waltz into the slaughter houses of their own free will. All this time, I thought they were confined to farms and small cells then forcifully slaughtered. My bad. Obviously, these animals have lived full, natural lives and just feel that it's time to go. I appologize, Mr. Benevolent Flesh Eater, sir. Please, ingest the heart disease and cancer from the happily killed creatures. SARCASM?

I don't need you to tell me to make a pod. I know how Current works. Thanks.

Well, that Alderman has now gotten his 15 minutes of fame.
I have an idea. If you don't like certain foods? Don't eat them.

I too enjoy the taste of luxury food like caviar on my tongue. I tried foie gras once, it was good, but I will never eat foie gras again, just as I don't eat lobster or veal. To me, it's murdering the cute fat ducks in Disneyworld.. just indirectly.... either way it is a wrongdoing and is like a thousand sins. All the talk about the humane production of it... I don't believe a word of that.
I don't like this guy at all. The greed of the restaurants and industry is not worth the lives of millions of ducks and geese plus the short lives of torture they go through. They don't even use the meat of the geese or ducks, thousands go to waste. Could they at least use it for something like feeding the carnivores in the zoo?
All those people with no sensitivity, the consumers of diseased liver will all be doomed I hope. They too will choke on their vomit as their death or be reincarnated as one of the helpless ducks.
